I miss Woolworths

Ikea! I forgot about Ikea! I mean - there's no Ikea in E1 so it's pretty much utterly useless for me but at least there's a place for a half decent bathmat

I'll drive you to the Edmonton one... only if you buy meat balls tho in the cafe...

I missed Woolies when I was home in the summer. I used to go in to buy all sorts of litle bits and pieces that I couldn't easily get here. Really silly things like children's games and things. This year there was nowhere selling the sort of thing I wanted.

I think there is still one real Woolworths somewhere as a result of a management buyout. The manager worked it out that if they just stocked the items that were selling well locally they would make a profit, rather than taking everthing was sent down by head office. What a pity Woolworths themselves couldn't arrive at that idea.

It's called Wellworths and it's in Dorchester.

It's pretty similar to Woolworths, but a bit better.

Never really liked the place, but then I worked in one for 9 months so that may have tarnished my opinion of it. Other than being somewhere I could get a bag of JUST the strawberry creams and none of the other Roses/whatever they were. Never really used the place, the poundland we have instead is way more useful and cheaper to me.

I miss mine. My niece's birthday is coming up and I did find them brilliant for kids stuff.

What happened to the fish bath mat?

Why do you need a new bath mat every year? :D

I was hoping no one would ask that

There were little black dots on it. I'd actually had it a year and a half. It's still rolled up and poking out of the top of the bin and I want it back but I think that croc might be a suitable replacement

I'm not trying to... just saying you might be able to rescue it ;)

(also I was wondering whether there was a comedy story to the fish bath mat :()

I tried scrubbing it with a toothbrush and some cilit bang but....LOOK! I just need a new bathmat ALRIGHT?!

That's what happened to mine. Damp. I even tried scrubbing them with Milton. Anyway, everyone deserves a new bath mat every few years. :)

Oh sorry, I mean

Oh god this is just like that stain on the bedroom carpet that I am too embarassed to bring up on here cuz it'll make me look skanky...ier, skankier :(

Lol :D :(

I cleaned a carpet stain at the weekend - vanish - did the trick ;)

So cillit bang is a bit shit then?

And trashy... I don't even have a bath mat  (showers are a bit scary sometimes!)

I only have a bathmat for the foal Biddly - I didn't think grown ups used them but seems I was wrong :p

I had to throw my bedroom carpet away if it makes you feel any better stella - I had a fantasy I was the sort of person that could have a cream carpet. I am not :o

The shower is over the bath and the bath is slippy. That's my final word on that.

As for the carpet. What kind of landlady puts cream carpet in a rented flat? The kind who says "Darling, it's cheap because it's a bit grotty! Feel free to decorate!", that's who. Then has a tenant who has a cat that puked once. Only needed to do it the once, mind.

Our big Woolworths store in Ilford is now a Wilkinson's. It opened lst week and it's very good. They sell lots of the same stuff that Woolies had.

I do still miss Woolworths as I used to buy most of my cds there.
