I just asked for a 20% pay rise

I've just emailed my boss asking for a 20% pay rise

I've taken on loads of responsibility, will be taking on loads more while a colleague is on sabatical and had an effective pay freeze last april.

Sounded a reasonable figure to me. Now I just have to wait and see what happens.

A few years back on a Friday afternoon my boss called me to his office, he gave me a four grand payrise as I was over performing in my current job.

I was paid yesterday and when I checked my payslip I realised I had just received a substantial pay rise that I wasn't expecting which was nice.

I didn't ask for it, but my boss said I deserved it and I’ve only been there since Feb.

Whenever I do ask for a pay rise I always ask for at least 20% more than I expect to get and I've never been refused yet.

Well they're taking me seriously. I've been "reassured" that there's a pay rise in the pipeline, but not for the full amount (which they haven't decided yet by the sounds of it)
