I have quit my job - woohoo!

Cant you do one or two nights? Do you start the following week, or preceding?

Gwan......... ;)

Considering how broken everyone was after last year I think it is very irresponsible of you to try and lead trashy astray when she is starting a new job. :D

I'm on holiday from 26 July for a week so don't really think it's possible sadly. Next year

(and if there's going to be any brokenness, I'm leaving the foal with my parents ;) )

 was thinking about this only the other day. So glad you've handed your notice in :) Yay for a long summer with the foal too :)

So, have they asked you to clear your desk yet?

No they haven't

I'm gutted. I spoke to my boss this morning and he said that he couldn't do anything with my form until wednesday as he didn't get my form until end of day Friday (I didn't know we finished at 4pm on Fridays) and he's on leave today. I told him to pull his finger out and I've forwarded it to HR in case he doesn't.

I have just found out that another colleague also handed in her notice last week so basically it just means they're in a bit of a mess because they're horribly underresourced.

But I am going to a direct competitor and work on new business proposals. In every single project I'm working on, the company I'm going to is also competing. If that doesn't count as conflict of interest, I don't know what does. I don't see much point in my being here, hanging around for 3 whole months. I'm hardly going to be a positive force :D

That's got to be in your favour in terms of the gardening leave :D fingers crossed for you hon.

Fingers crossed. :)

Congratulations trashpony.... I can share your joy - handed in my notice last week and it feels so fucking good. I've no job to go to once ive served my notice period, but fuck it - ive always managed to find something in the past.

I feel free as a bird :)

Good luck - and congratulations :)

I would feel free if I knew when I would be free

I think I might go home in a mo though. I think the time has come to stop my commitment to always working slightly longer hours than I get paid for ;)

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. The other woman that's handed in her notice is also going to a competitor but a much smaller one than the one I'm going to so we'll see what happens ... I want to know when I can go shopping :D

Is it worth dropping hints/rubbing their noses in it whilst they make their decisions?

I'm going to see what happens. I'm not sure the guys I'm working with on these proposals would be too happy that I'm signed up for the opposition. If no one else tells them soon, then I will. I feel a bit duplicitous working for them when they don't know.

No. I spoke to my boss this morning and he has confirmed that my leaving date is 18 July. I asked him how long I'd have to work and he muttered and said that they were short of resource etc, etc. So I said I was going to tell the people I am working with. No, no, don't tell them. I pointed out that is a clear conflict of interest and unprofessional not to tell them. He has said he will ring them because he clearly doesn't trust me. He has kindly said that they may let me start my new job early but I have told him that unless I got a month off (paid) before I started, I will insist on the entire notice period otherwise there is no incentive for me to leave early (basically so they can get out of paying me for an extra month).

He is apparently going to give me an update by end of day. Arse - I'm really fucking pisssed off.

:(

they're just carrying right on with treating you like shit, aren't they?

Yep. I was caught between shaking with anger and crying when I was talking to my boss this morning :o

I am taking the full one hour for lunch, even if I am just aimlessly walking around.

It's stupid - it's a week since I've handed in my notice, if I don't work on proposals (which is my job) there is nothing to do. No one has given me anything to do and I'm not going to start any projects of my own - absolutely no interest in doing anything at all. I am utterly demotivated.

Oh no, that sucks. What's happening with your colleague, have they told her whats happening yet?

I hope they told you a bit nicer than that.........

They said 'because you work in such a sensitive area of the business and are moving to a direct competitor, we have decided to put you on gardening leave from immediate effect. How long do you think it will take you to clear your desk?'

Umm not very long considering I handed in my notice a week ago

I have to give my boss my laptop, my blackberry, my phone and my staff pass. In case I try and sneak back into the building :D

OHMYGOD! I have been told to clear my desk and leave by 5.15

FUCKING A. GET IN THERE!!1!1!1!!

Yay, well done Trashy. They weren't keen on you talking to your colleagues about it then!!

You lucky, lucky bugger. :D :p

How much notice do you have to give the foals nursery? That will save you a fortune won't it?
