It's totally not. My girlfriend loves it, so do several of my girl mates and girlfriends of mates of mine. I reckon I could get my mum into it, she's such a fan of quality drama and this has that in abundance.

I haven't seen the wire, deadwood, lost, emmerdale, corrie or the newest doctor who

i don't really watch tv

I'm not particularly proud or snobbish about it - i just don't seem to have the time.

i *love* those types of programmes, although i prefer booze britain even more.

and that's why i don't have time to watch the wire.
my favourite bits are when they've arrested some aggressive drunken loud mouthed punchy hooligan and the cops stick the cuffs on and suddenly mister hardman is all like "oooooooooooooWWWWWWWWWW, my hands hurt, they're TOO TIGHT!!!! you're breaking my arms...." etc etc

not that i approve of police brutality obv.

yeah that's it, Booze Britain. I guess there are 2 kinds of people in the world, those who like Booze Britain and those who like The Wire..

buy the first dvd, it's on some obscure satelite channel FX or something, i've never seen it broadcast on the telly, watched the first 4 on dvd:)

the box sets for the first 3 series are nearly always v cheap on amazon. i got all mine for £18 each.

Oooh - now that could be worth investing in!

Just got to make our way through the second series of "Battlestar Gallactica" on DVD first. And - crossing my fingers and thinking please, please, please, please, please - Mr. QofG's may be buying a PS3 today so that will be more call on the TV/my time.

Damn - why do I have to work when I really want to spend all day watching TV and playing video games. 'Snot fair :(

i liked the blank-faced youth pissing himself as the police led him to the van. and the mental one who started headbutting the secuirty glass in the van.... too many moments to mention.

all designed to show you how police are Very Brave People doing a Difficult Job to Protect Us

I've never watched one but I do have the first 4 series ready to go. I'm watching the entire Sopranos 6 series at a rate of 1 episode per week first so ... ummm I might be a while.

This drug may attack cancerous cells but it cannot match the sheer genius of that scene where the big, scary black guy says something really profound but does it through the medium of chess."But the real genius of The Wire is that its genius is so subtle, even though I have no idea what's going on and the only words I can understand are 'bitches' and 'motherfucker'."

He added: "It makes this new cancer drug look like Jonathan Creek."
:D

It's different to the average cop drama, much more involving. I've heard it descibed as an ambivalent love story about the city of Baltimore.

I've only seen the first eight episodes of series one, I never seem to get the time to watch it. Hopefully I'll get through a few this weekend, as it's really hotting up.

I've just watched the first three episodes. It's very good and I'm enjoying it but it hasn't blown me away yet.

Everyone says it takes a few episodes to get going, mind. So far, for me, it's better than anything on British TV but it's no way near as good as The Sopranos.

I only started watching it about two weeks ago. It's good, sometimes very good, but I found it didn't live up to the hype.

I got into Generation Kill much quicker and I don't usually like army stuff.
