what and you don't think that pro players do? just beacuse they get paid?

thats silly. esepcially when you apply it to higher paid stars like footballers/f1 drivers and such.

Ronaldo can afford to retire at 23, the reason he will continue to play for another 10 years is beacuse he loves what he does.

More so then ameteurs to be honest, i've known people who play golf purely as a way to advance thier carears or even get away from the missus for an afternoon.

Let's take away their pay, end all sponsorship and slash admission prices then. Everyone will be happy.:)

Then I would guess, correct me if I'm wrong, that we share a common annoyance with the regular programming that we actually do want to watch being booted off the schedules in favour of something that leaves us both cold.

Not really - I have no interest in sport so when other half wishes to watch sport, I just go do something else. To be fair though, there is nothing on television that I get upset about missing. And we have Sky+ anyway ;)

No, you don't quite get what I meant. By 'she's not a tit', I mean she is nothing like those silly people in union jack clown hats, and neither are lots of other women who like tennis. I don't think your generalisation works.

My apologies - it was just a flippant remark and I did not mean to cause any offence to you or your sister who I'm sure is a very nice person.

It's entertainment, not a moral crusade. Why be so purist about it so long as people are having fun and not damaging the spirit of the event or anyone else's enjoyment?

I'm not being purist! I just get cross at people's amazement that for 2 weeks a year, I still have no interest whatsoever in tennis! "But it's Wimbledon!!!" "so?" :)

There is the scoreboard and clock sponsored by Rolex. Slazenger is all over the courts as is Robinsons etc.

Sure they don't quite do it like the football, but it's still there.
It's very, very different from football, with flashing lights distracting you from the game to tell you who your electricity supplier could be.

I hate all the hype surrounding the British players, very cringeworthy but the game itself is great and grass court tennis is the most exciting to watch imo.

Personally, I think tennis is utterly dull, but I understand why it's covered like this, and I'm not bothered about it being on. I just won't watch it. :)
