I get the impression that coffee's more popular than tea

Coffee all the way for me. I grind from the bean. The only time I'll drink tea is if there is only instant coffee (or no coffee).

Check de high street for proof!

Coffee is more suitable for upselling as things like 'skinny late' and 'grande frapuchino' and the higher caffeine content makes people want to buy things like muffins to raise the glucose concentration in the brain. It also makes people work harder in the office.

Tea on the other hand contains theaine and other alkaloids engendering a more sedate stimulation of the faculties, more suited to contemplation or relaxed conversation.

Hear hear!

I get my fine teas from this man. But even PG tips is superior to most coffees.

Coffee has a great aroma, but comparing it to tea is like comparing methamphetamine to mdma.

Tea is drunk for the pleasure of the taste. Coffee is a necessary tool that propels me from indolence to activity

tea isn't that big over here, i think it goes back to the boston tea party

An almost unforgivable event in my book. You do realise how if you lot where to apologise for this savage attack we'd let you back into empire don't you? What's taking you so long?

PINTS of tea??? For me that used to be my hangover drink (with a ton of sugar)

oh aye, especially once it's a bit colder- pint of tea and a spliff! oh yeah :D

outside I mean, once it's a bit colder outside, as in the weather like

I love tea. :) A nice Assam is my favourite, although to be fair there's nought wrong with PG Tips. Coffee is OK but I can live without it, I have it occasionally, but tea is my hot drink of choice.

I'll use coffee if I really have to wake up quickly, or I'm getting a bad headache from caffeine withdrawal, but the rest of the time I prefer tea (unsweetened, with milk).

Tea is also the last thing I'll economise on - really cheap tea bags usually taste of nothing much and just remind you how skint you are. This household gets through approx half a pound of tea per week, and next to no coffee.

I was surprised that some Waitrose own brand loose leaf tea that has been sat in a plastic container for about 6 months still tastes badder than the PG tips teabags that I stole from work

To me it's like the difference between bread and cake.

Tea is like bread = a staple item that you love and couldn't imagine living without, and is wholesome and good.

Coffee is like cake = a bit frivolous, something to treat yourself to rather than for every day consumption.
