I don't understand how to make my central heating timer work

eta: except the 12, 3, 6, 9 are in a proper circle not all squashed as the board formatting has it. The I is the short hand and the \ is the long hand. Surrounding this is the fucked up 24 hr clock

this.

ie, when it's midnight, the 0 will be facing the arrow / west.

in fact what ever time it is that number will be facing the arrow.

then just push the clicky bits in next to the times you want the heating on, and make sure they're not pushed in at any other time and you're sorted.

aha will try. So I ignore the clock with hands and go with the west/24hr clock thing?

The hands on the clock say ten to 11. Like this:

12

9 \I 3

6

This sits inside a circle of 24 hrs with spokes and at 12pm.North, the exterior circle says '16.00'

Just by the 9 of the inner circle is a mark, which seems pretty meaningless.
ignore the clock, it is merely there to tell you the time rather than having anything to do with the heating timer.

you need to turn the outer dial so that the time it actually is is next to the pretty meaningless mark.

The clock bears no relation to the dial thing.

If I set the 24 hr dial thing for heating 7-10pm, the clok says 4.50am.

gabi I hope you get sorted soon, it's damn cold

Check around the rim of the timer thing for the little mark that says where the dial things have to be to work. They're not necessarily at the 12 o'clock position, which is what it sounds like you might be assuming...

Oh, OK, you got that far. Bugger, should have read the thread. :)

I was assuming. For some bizarre reason, the timer sets to a small spot at West/quarter to three, whereas the clock doesn't.

Bit stupid, why not have it set at North/12?

But yay, the bastard is now working. Rah rah urbanz.
