I can't believe...

Blimey - those Italians take their politics to the extreme...

I apologise for copying the pics from your link but I thought these two summed it up pretty well.

crazy

i got in a fight with some fascists when i lived in italy

but they need to sort that shit out, imagine fans waving nazi flags in a premier league game

That is a great article, I read it this morning.

The point where spectator unrest becomes politically driven is under increasing scrutiny. A study commissioned by the anti-hooliganism division of the Italian police found that of the 128 clubs that make up Italy’s top three divisions, 42 had significant political orientations in the fan base. Twenty-seven clubs veered significantly to the right, 15 to the other extreme, and seven were simply extreme, with radicals of both hues among their number.

In Italy, everything is political.

Lazio won 3-1.

That photo of Paolo was from January 6 2005, after the derby (which Lazio also won 3-1).

Don't forget good old Livorno, their symbols are just as bad, if not worse.
much as i'm not a commie and think that mebbe some things done in the ussr were horriffic and killed millions, i don't genuinely believe that the symbols are used in the same way as nazi symbols, and i think they're more just misguided.

Hmm, I think the people of Livorno (birthplace of Italian Communism) would disagree with your assertion that they are just misguided. They really believe that stuff. The swastika and the hammer & sickle are both symbols of murderous regimes. It just seems that some murderous regimes are more acceptable than others. Lazio's Ultras haven't displayed political banners for 2 or 3 years, but Livorno bring out the right-wing in everyone. Even AS Roma, who have both left and right-wing fans, went overboard with the Duce and Boia Chi Molla banners when they played Livorno.

I think the essential difference is that communism does not rely on ethnic purity or encourage stigmatising of individuals and groups on racial grounds. Surely facism relies on this from which ever way you look at it. Communism as an ideology (i.e. a belief) is not abhorrant - though many regimes that have adopted that belief are. I think this is an important distinction to make.
This shit kind of makes someone lobbing a bit of pasty or something at Rooney as unimportant as it actually is.

EDIT: - How much is it to get in to a serie A game compared to a Pr£mi£rshit game?

I'm no expert, but I would say that Fascism is more about nationalism and authoritarianism than racial purity. National Socialism (Nazism) is certainly based more along racial lines.

Re: tickets - good seats in the tribuna are about €60 - €70. In the curva they are cheaper, but these areas are normally reserved for season ticket holders. It is fairly easy to jib into a ground in Italy though, if you flash any kind of photo ID at the gate.
