I bought some mini stollen from Lidl

I managed to resist Aldi's stollen, but actually found myself making a special trip in the rain to Tesco at 7.15pm for the mince pies I had managed to resist earlier.

.. and I walked back across the shop to the huge pallet to pick up the discounted second box.

What's Kummel Mrs M?

It's a caraway and fennel-flavoured liqueur. A good one is also about 40% alcohol by volume, rather than the meek 20% jobs you occasionally see in offies over here.
Oh, and unlike aquavit, it's sweetened.

I've been finding myself sipping liquers of an evening recently - I may have to give Kirsh a go this year.
Not sure about Kummel as I already have Benedictine.

I'll have to get some teeny glasses so I don't overdo it...

I've eaten two of Lidl's rather excellent chocolate-coated marzipan with kirsch concoctions, and they were as lovely as I remember. I recall that the plum-liqueur ones are lovely too!

neither am I, normally. Aniseed balls make me boke, but I do love caraway, so...
