Errm am I the only one who's noticed that this video was recorded in 2005 and the blurb says it was an accident caused by some weapons exploding on the back of a truck. You can actually see the mortar tube on the back of the truck as it panes past. Yes it is horrific which means it's all the more important to check its origin.

OK. I decided to search for the new title. First hits are now titled this

The video seems most likely to be that of 2005 incident.
It appears to have been used to whip up feeling for an incident that was presented as being from NOW, but that transpires to be from 2005 hamas truck explosion, and not from IDF strikes on Gaza that are happening now.

So, as I said, someone could have been trying for a sucker-punch, deliberately to undermine any outrage at the carnage in Gaza over last 8 days or so.

It is certainly not impossible that somebody deliberately uploaded an old video and claimed it was a new one. (Likewise it is certainly not impossible that somebody did that in order to make claims about "Hamas propaganda".)

It doesn't really make any difference - it's not like what we know has happened was made worse by the video if it was taken as truth, it was just illustrated.

However, the incident in 2005 is still an indirect result of all the problems there and I think we can still be sure that the recent attacks on Gaza have looked similar or worse.

I hadn't noticed before but at the very beginning of the clip you can see a large white banner & a column of trucks. One thing that did seem strange when I first saw it (although I had no idea it was a fake) were all the green flags & hats & black masks. They would not have these things advertising the fact they were fighters if they were under air bombardment but they always have them at rallies & parades.

So why would he post an edited video (with no description) that could be construed as helping Hamas' cause, mis-label it so that it appears to have happened in the current conflict, then 24 hours later relabel it correctly as a Hamas accident with a full description?

This video is not a fake. It is edited as it transpires, but shows the very real consequences of explosions on human flesh.

Similar things are by all accounts happening to innocent civilians in Gaza right now.
