Hyperdrive

so did i, it made me chuckle lots and lots :)

I agree wholeheartedly. Very silly jokes and plot, and astute parody of SF shows. Rather good, overall.

I bet everyone will be saying they loved this from day 1 when it's a hit later in the year.

Nope. I wanted to like it very much loving as i do sci-fi, comedy and combinations thereof. I'm also a big fan of Nick Frost but i'm afraid hyperdrive is a stinker.

Well just watched the third one, the side plot was decent, but the main capt/crew plot was shite badly done...still. Jeffers on the planet was for a moment mildly amusing as was his interaction with the other guy.

Will keep watching as i seem to be a glutton for punishment in this regard.

Hmmm havn't seen this....

If it's anywhere near as bad as Red Dwarf Series 7 & 8 then I will definatly avoid it like the plague.

Anyone know what time of day this show was aired?

Cause I am thinking back across all the episodes and I can't think of a single episode that contained any adult themes. I think I barely remember an episode where jeffers took a drug, but it was childishly done and didn't really deal with anything to do with drugs just an excuse to behave stupidly.

I think this is why I didn't like it. Red Dwarf for all its comic value dealt with a lot of generally adult themes, the madness of being alone, death, sex. Even not particularly adult themes, but scientifically based themes. Time travel, alternative universes, aliens that were feasible rather then comic dressing. Where was that in Hyperdrive.

What themes were explored in this piss poor comedy that should have been shown at 9.30am on a saturday being introduced by a puppet.

Jesus christ , you seemed to miss the biggest joke of the whole fucking programme , essentially what the enire program was about - that being the position of Britain in the wider political climate of space and the inability for the charaters to see that Britain was no longer Great and still carry on with a sterotyped empirialistic attitude . Obviously that wasn't intelligent enough for most of the people on this thread who were clearly looking for clever one liners to get their laughs

Who said I liked wrestling?

I assumed you did from all the masks, and your name.. I'm sorry if I was wrong, being mistaken for a wrestling fan is not good.

Well, I watched episode 4, and I still liked it.

Oh yes lets take a moment to wander through the wit and subtlety of those moments. You act like it was a clever subplot that we all missed, when instead it was blatant rubbish that was shoved in our faces.

That had all the subtlety and satirical talent of a Sun headline.

You asked what themes were explored and I told you ! From your post I had no option but to assume you'd missed the point of the programme ! I never said it was subtle but to claim it didn't tackle any "adult issues" ( is it necessary for a programme to do that ) is miss guided . Which brings me to your sun headline comment , ok it may be accurate but it does contradict your claim there were no "adult issues" no matter how badly it was done .
