hyde housing?

Aren't you confusing the Tabard Gardens tenants' rejection of a transfer to Peabody in 2002 with the collapse of the Tenant Management Co-operative in 2005 because it was so "disfunctional" (to put it euphemistically) which led to Southwark taking back control from the TMC?

I know the person who led the campaign against the TMO on the tabard. the collapse had to do with the campaign against the potential transfer (never expressively referred to IIRC, but obviously in the air) and the fact that it was already run effectively by peabody. there were of course disagreements between people, but that wasn't the issue.

BTW, it was a TMO (tenant management organisation), not a TMC, whatever that is.

Ahem...
still on Southwark Council's website two years later said:
Tabard Gardens TMO

Description
Tabard Gardens Tenant Management Co-operative

The Tabard Gardens estate comprises 1443 properties and has been managed by its own Tenant Management Co-operative since 1995. The TMC is responsible for the full range of housing services to the estate. It is currently engaged in carrying out major works on the estate.

whether it's or was a TMO or TMC, it has definitely gone back into full council control AFAIK. that was in the Siuthwark news. perhaps they should update their website, sometime.....

Well, the results of our stock transfer ballot were released just before Christmas, Hyde lost! Bit of a suprise, I thought with all the work they have put in over the last year I was sure they were going to walk it. Dunno what's going to happen around here now....

I had tonns of trouble with Harca years ago. They were going to remove the cap of 10k for refurbishment and there was talk of leaseholders having to find 40k. As far as I remember though the tennents were pretty much ok.

He'd have been delighted that Hyde lost the ballot, as should the tenants there also be - they've had a narrow escape.
I was speaking to someone from Kennington Pk Estate, who told me that Hyde offered loans to the tenants on the estate (before Xmas). Just as I was about to say "blimey - isn't there as slight conflict of interest with a landlord getting their tenants into debt ?!", he told me that if the tenant defaults on the loan, they lose their tenancy. Thank god tenants can see through these shysters.

You are right!

As far as tenants on your estate are concerned they retain the right to buy as set out in sections of the Housing Act 1985 and the Housing (Preservation of Rights to Buy) Regulations 1993. Its all there in the Offer Document.
