Hurrican Katrina: US death toll announced yet?

pbman said:
I've been watching brown kickass and take names during todays congressional hearing on katrina.

He's a damn good man.

Its a shame the commies took him down, while he was busy doing his job.

Yeah, he blamed a lot of people in NO and Louisiana.

But I don't think that blame will stretch to explain the dogs breakfast that occurred also in Mississippi and Alabama.

And speaking of which, some Rita survivors are now talking about how they waited 4 days for federal assistance. The mayor of Galveston put in a request for aid, and was given '101 promises', to use his words. He said when they asked the feds for things, they got requests back for paperwork.

Seems they still aren't getting it right.

lol

admit it,you've never even heard of lousianian's legednary courption have you?

well yes actually, but a point could be that you not only admit Dem corruption but positively boast about it.

Anyone can counter with similar Rep examples, so you are boasting that all US politics is corrupt, no. :)

When it comes to government corruption in developed countries, the US is #14,
the UK is #19 and Canada is #20. source

Well, that was interesting - over to you pbman :D

What a good man he is...

He also contended it's "unreasonable" to expect the U.S. government to provide food, water, gasoline and transportation for everyone.

.

Of course.

Thats the state's jobs.

The feds will/can help the state with money, but the logistics of it, are their responsibility.

Its hardly the same, the democrats have dominated in some of these southern states since the civil war.

No doubt if the republicans ran things for so long they would be as bad.

But they havn't.

They are short of that by about 140 years.

Thats hardly news to me, i've been fighting these courpted good old boys here in oklhoma for 10 years.

BAck in the late 80's they arrested like 95% of the county committioners here.

The largest such scandal in our nations history.

And not much has changed, we have taken a bit more power from them, but have had several recent democratc scandals and such............

If anyone can find a republican state scandle one tenth as bad as this one, and just as recent, i will admit we are just as bad as the democrats.

Just 1/10 as bad.

Good luck. :D

*cough* Tom DeLay *cough*

One man is not a comparable scandal.

You need to find a state were ten percent of the county commitioners were arested and republican.

But since your going on about tom delay.

Tell me what law he broke.

Or is accuseed of breaking.

Their is no violation of the law in the indetment.

And that should tell you something.

Did this story get linked to already;

"Everything was embellished, everything was exaggerated,"

"Rumors of deaths greatly exaggerated
Widely reported attacks false or unsubstantiated
6 bodies found at Dome; 4 at Convention Center
By Brian Thevenot and Gordon Russell

After five days managing near-riots, medical horrors and unspeakable living conditions inside the Superdome, Louisiana National Guard Col. Thomas Beron prepared to hand over the dead to representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Following days of internationally reported killings, rapes and gang violence inside the Dome, the doctor from FEMA - Beron doesn't remember his name - came prepared for a grisly scene: He brought a refrigerated 18-wheeler and three doctors to process bodies.

"I've got a report of 200 bodies in the Dome," Beron recalls the doctor saying.

The real total was six, Beron said.

Of those, four died of natural causes, one overdosed and another jumped to his death in an apparent suicide, said Beron, who personally oversaw the turning over of bodies from a Dome freezer, where they lay atop melting bags of ice. "

Your s.o.l. then..

My spell checker doesn't know either.

The purpose of this board is to discuss, not to play phonics to continue a discussion.

And I came on this thread to defend FEMA.

Sigh - and back onto ignore you go :(

butchersapron said:
Ok which threads on here linked to that story? Thanks.

What is 'well known' btw?

That story has been linked in this one IIRC.

And it go pretty good airplay over here.

And its not the only one, turns out the sob story about the guys mother dying as realate by teh jefferson parish president, is false as well.

Looks like the press botched their jobs worse than the city and state officers.

So, when i asked the question "Did this story get linked to already" the answer was not yes as you tried to claim, it was, in fact no. Is this correct?

I'm not checking for you, thats a lot of work.

Good god, you support them when they lie barefaced and as soon as the crisis is over you demand that they be hanged? Don't ever let me get in a fox hole with you. I'd be happy to frag the pair of us if it stopped you breathing.

butchersapron said:
I've checked. It's not.

Maybee it was one of the many in general.

Or one of the others here.

Or just go ahead and post it in every thread you can find, if you so desire.

Whats the big deal?

You don't remember much of what you posted over them days do you?

What's it like having no principles at all and being able to lie whenever you like?

I remmber standing up for bush and FEMA, and arguing a lot of constitional issues quite strongly.

Posse Comitatus and such.

I made one or two comments about the violence.

What's it like having no principles at all and being able to lie whenever you like?

And whats it like calling people lier's and not having a shred of proof.

Go find the post and quote them, if you can.

The fact is that i stayed out of those issues.

FEMA - lol.

If Bush were to fire FEMA director Mike Brown the agency would be run by the Chief of Staff and the Deputy Chief of Staff. (See the FEMA organizational chart).

The Chief of Staff is a guy named Patrick Rhode. He planned events for President Bush’s campaign. Rhode has no emergency management experience whatsoever. From Rhode’s official bio:

His first position with the Bush Administration was as special assistant to the President and deputy director of National Advance Operations, a position he assumed in January 2001. Previously, Mr. Rhode served as deputy director of National Advance Operations for the George W. Bush Presidential Campaign, in Austin, Texas.

A fucking joke.
