Hurrah! Reid to quit as home secretary

I'm surprised that Brown's former bag carrier, Ed Balls, hasn't been mentioned as a possible replacement for the dour one at the Treasury. Or is he too young in the tooth?

There was me thinking it was both a historical movement and a political ideology, which Reid has fuck all to do with.
That's language for you. It changes. 'Quick' used to mean 'alive'.

As far as I know, the specific 1930s nazi ideology is often spelled with an upper-case F.

He's got far too little ministerial experience. Despite being Brown's adviser at the Treasury for most (all?) of his tenure, he's only been an MP since 2005 and a junior minister since 2006, I think.

Besides, he's the most atrocious public speaker. Have you ever heard him? Embarrassing to listen to.

There's a possibility that he'll be the next Chancellor but one, or maybe two, but not until he's shown his mettle in another cabinet job first. I could see him going to Chief Secretary, then Work and Pensions and then maybe, Chancellor.

Unless he's secretly an Estruscan, although back in those "olden days" it was nothing like the 20th Century ideology we've come to know and despise

Hmmm, that never stopped Blair from reaching the dizzy heights of political success. Blair's rise was one of the most rapid that I've ever seen in the history of politics.
