Hurrah - Mortgage Paid off in Eight Years!

I'm 38 and still renting :(

well done yelkcub, I'm quite in awe!

Renters unite ;) we'll never have to worry ourselves with replacement boilers or any of that shit.

I have no idea how long. Fucking ages in this place but when we move to the seaside it should be quite quick - hopefully in less than 10.

Aww you're moving to the seaside! That's

Sometimes.

It was gnawing away under my bed the other night.

Thankfully it seems to like the special blue food I put down for it yesterday. (:()

Sorry to be a bore, but if there's a rat in your manor you have to report it to the council BY LAWWWW.

I'm not sure what to do with this thread. Are we expected to post how long we have left? Congratulate you on the end being in sight? Express sympathy for having another eight years?

I AM CONFUSED HELP ME KTHXBYE

you missed the option for tell everyone involved to fuck off back to daytime TV or whatever it is inspires people to consider mortgage payments a relevant topic of conversation to other human beings...

no bitterness there at all...

10 points for first person to post something about the politics of envy...oh...er...hang on...I....

I'm getting a new boiler (well new heating and water) shortly and it's great, not a worry!:p

For NOW :hmm:

I lost a sponge down the bathroom sink overflow with some overenthusiastic cleaning the other day. By nightfall it was all fixed and no plumbers bill to consider :)

we paid off ours in six years, simply by having kids, not going out at all for three years, and doubling our repayments. as soon as you start knocking chunks off the interest payments, it drops right away.

Not from my experience. They're not madly expensive but def. not cheap imo.

Anyway, I still prefer tangerine's answer

How the fucking fuck do people do that?

Are you mortgage-payer-offers on ridiculous salaries or something?

I think mine's due to be paid off when I'm about 75

Bollocks to that - I intend on dying first.

Because before we had kids, we were spending loads on going out, eating out, holidays abroad, etc, etc. Afterwards, we hardly ever went out, so we used the money we would have spent on going out to pay our mortgage.

I haven't done very much of that at all in my life.

I suppose getting a first mortgage at the age of 35 probably put me right back, eh? Who gives a shite? :D

Too fucking right. If I ever have kids they can sort their own shit out.

Exactly what I said to my lass - don't be expecting some kind of inheritance, cos I'm probably gonna sell it back to the bank and live on the money anyway, if I do last that long!
