Hull City - Up The Tigers - 2009/10 Thread

So, there's a good chance that the UK's answer to Scarlett Johansson, Iain Dowie, will be the new manager at Hull.
And who better to guide the team to Premiership safety than the man who's NEVER* been involved with managing/coaching a team during it's relegation season.

(*NEVER, if you discount Crystal Palace, Charlton and Newcastle United.)

Yeah. Their finances look..iffy. I suspect if they go down they won't stop for a while.

Their finances are WELL iffy. I have a friend who works as a "sports business consultant" (accountant to sports clubs) and he has always said that Hull's finances have been teetering (or worse) on a knife edge. Luckily, Leeds has been paying a significant amount of Barmby's wages for a long time...

As for who the new manager is, the only names that got me excited out of the list of mostly sacked UK has beens has either Mark Hughes or (and I don't believe this one at all) Avram Grant. Dowie, Megson, Jewell all struck me as pretty much the same as what we just got rid of. Venables would be an interesting choice though.

Usually a new manager takes 2 or 3 games to bed in his ideas and to analyse the teams capabilities, these will be 2 or 3 games Hull cannot afford. Brown shot his bolt last season when he confirmed his status as a big headed self adoring twat. He should have been replaced 5 or 6 games ago.

I still believe that Hull have some tidy players and the run in see's them play a number of teams around them, we shall see....
