Huge jump in UK arms sales to Israel

Well here`s a surprise.
Licences for British arms sales to Israel last year amounted to nearly £25million, almost double the previous year. The licences covered the export of armoured vechicles and missile components. The sales to Israel are the highest since 1999. This was before Jack Straw sought assurances from Israel that equipment supplied by the U.K. was not being used against civilians and in the occupied terrorites. These assurances of course have never been adhered to and yet the sales go on and on...And its Pal people who are paying the price with thier lives....
the full report can be accessed via
The Campaign against The Arms Trade(CATT)

There were similar assurances from Jack Straw that British arms weren't used by Uzbekistan to slaughter hundreds of civilians in May 2005.

Thanks for the info as well, but I can't find a link to the figures you quoted on CATT's site (I did look honest!) :)

Thank you for the information.

The man on Uzbekistan is of course the wonderful Craig Murray (who stood against Final Straw in Blackburn in the 2005 GE) - http://www.craigmurray.co.uk/

A big thumbs up to Mr Murray, an inspiration.

I remember watching coverage of Condoleezza Rice being questioned as part of the 9/11 inquiry in which she talked of the US selling weapons to Uzbekistan. She immidiately corrected herself and changed the remark to the more Orwellian friendly "counter-terrorism aids".

It's the same with Israel, everything can be justified if you use the magic T word.

I think the uzbecks mostly used ex soviet gear for killing the "rebel" unarmed protestors would'nt want to waste expensive hi tech western arms on people who can't shoot back :(
for mass slaughter go russian and chinese :(
for high tech killing at a distance go USA :(
for over priced tat that does'nt work really go UK plc
