How's your Brixton MP performing?

For those of an anti-war sensibility, Gary Younge's We cannot vote Labour article in Monday's Guardian makes interesting reading.

Courtesy of the brilliant The Public Whip I note that Keith Hill voted with the government on almost EVERY bill, and consistently backed the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

However, with a majority of 14,270 voters, and the Tories in second place, he seems unassailable.

I read Gary Younges article.Another useful piece in the Guardian recently is by David Clark(a former advisor to number 10) who argues that people should look at the voting record and pronouncements of their MPs to tactically vote against Blairite New Labour and for Labour party MPs.The theory being that Labour will get with a reduced majority with less Blairite brownnosers.

Seems to me the public whip and those put up by Head Honcho fulfill the service that Clark suggests in his article.

I still think given the appalling nature of the illiberal right wingers who run the government its necessary to vote for Greens/Respect(as Younge says) or abstain.Im thinking of abstaining or spoiling my ballot this time.

I think Hoey is from Northern Ireland-heard her on the radio a while back.She is a complete maverick.I think she opposed the war on Iraq.Pooka put up a link a while back which showed she was imposed on Lambeth as an anti hard Lbour left candidate in the days og Kinnock.Ironic as she can be just as scathing of Lambeth New Labour.

I should warm to her because of her maverick qualities.

But I don't. At all, especially when she's opening her big 'hardly-ever-seen-in-Brixton' gob on TV announcing what the people of Brixton supposedly want.

turned up to a local meeting to get our road closed off (long story ,trafic short-cut, primerary school round corner, lots of dead dogs and cats from speeding arseholes)
