Yup, this one stays. The work involved in digging-out the other one a few years back is not something I'd like to do again!

Stag beetles however are very rare up here - I think we might be on or beyond the limit of their range? Other interesting types are well represented however.

we only have a little space which has a few rose bushes and lots of weeds. I'm pulled up quite a few of the weeds but there is the remains of a dead rose bush root and another healthy small tree. We are too close to the house to let a tree grow. What's the best way of digging up either of these things? fork or spade?
