peterkro Greasin' on American Express card.

I wouldn't have thought they weren't a big deal.Tyres most likely replaced as well as exhaust if there were any major problems.

Yep agreed the price yesterday and sent him £100 deposit, but if something shows up wrong on today's MOT I think he'll be open to discussing it.
(and just found really nice and knowledeable local mechanic 2 mins from home who said reassuring things)

The advisories on that are for perishables (tyres and a back box). For a little Fiat like that neither is the end of the world and if it passes the MOT we’ll have a bit of time to fix it up.

If you like it, buy it.

.. MOT is happening at 4pm today he says, so should I not send the money till after that’s done? It has to clear his account before i can drive off in it tomorrow doesn't it.

I think you’ve already bought the car, tbh. :)

It’ll pass the mot but no need to make the transfer until he confirms it. It clears pretty much instantly.

    mauvais change has become unavoidable

Worst case is tyres are about £80 or so each, exhaust not much either. But unless they stuck it through less fussy (or bent) MOT testers, it should have come up again. People don't necessarily keep paperwork for tyres.

I have all my receipts for everything on the car, both English and Spanish. It's just an obsession of mine.

New cars are exciting, especially your first.
I think you’ve done the right thing not buying a total shitbox, I spent so much money buying and repairing awful cars for the first couple of years. When I bought my 6 month old corsa, I did over 100 miles driving round the new forest. It was fucking lovely.

    Happy car day for tomorrow.

When you get back and settle into your car check this out for proper mirror alignment. Most people have their side mirrors overlapping the centre mirror too much (a natural inclination) and create greater blindspots: Here's the safest way to position your wing mirrors

    Made it!
Spymaster had to wait for me quite a few times and there were a few beeps from other drivers but it was nowhere near as bad as I feared. And now cars here outside my window. :)

Now we've finished with Autotrader, shall we move onto Rightmove?

It was all quite relaxed. Bimble did very well and I think at least one of the times she got beeped was my fault. Satnav took us on an interesting tour of Catford but other than that no dramas at all. She's bought a very nice little car.

Have you plans for that special first drive out by yourself.
Beware the Sunday drivers. Early morning at the weekend is probably the best time for a quiet, peaceful drive.
