How the hell do you revise?

Revision never worked for me. I tried several methods, but unless I'd taken in the material first time around, it would never stick in my head. Even if it miraculously did, I panic in exam conditions and forget my name and what language I speak

Don't know how to help with OP but I'm procrastinating on the boards tonight. Got an open uni assignment due on 15th and its not answering itself.

I find reading my notes and then re-writing them in bullet points helps, digesting the information along the way. I usually start about 3 weeks before the exam.

Oh, and listening to The Pretenders during revision is always good. Just a thought.

I always revised best well in advance of the exam, 10 hour days with books doing every practice question i could find. When it comes to exam time itself i'm too wound up to take much in and i'm lucky if i get an hour or so done. Stick on an album you like, nothing new and nothing too heavy as background noise.

Bullet points are nearly always an excellent idea.

I'm trying to work this out, i've managed to coast by for years with minimal effort, n last minute cramming with a bit of advance note taking chucked in. In fact, I think i could get away with it in the next few weeks, as I generally have good coursework marks, but I want to get used to actually engaging with revision, even though I only have to pass these exams, they don't count towards my degree mark (and I only need to get 16% in one exam to pass the module, due to coursework, hardly motivating! :D).

Getting out is definitely makes it easier, but I then go and find things which distract me. My worst habit though is doing some revision, but not enough, and then feeling chuffed i've actually bothered to do any, and then forgetting about it for days/weeks. Bah!

Relax dude. If it's seeped into your pores, you can answer the qs. If it hasn't you ain't gonna catch up now. Your best hope is chilling out a bit, cos the ol memory works better when it's not stressed innit.

as some of the others have said, doing broad subjects in note form, and then blasting them into my head, by walking round the house saying them out loud.

Did it in 20-30min bursts with short breaks in between, always finished by about 4pm. Take a proper lunch break too...

Worked well for me.

Not trying to cram online advice rather than study..Everyone is right & everyone is also a tiny bit wrong, because its only what suits you that will work.. Personally I rewrite (I'm sitting my Masters final in 3 weeks) lectures, notes etc in my own version, not full length but so I comprehend the essence but in my own words, back this up with Google alerts so I get the latest gen on my studies, reread one section with the course notes at hand per evening (this only takes an hour and so doesn't become a huge labor) and during this alter my notes (netbok stored) so that with the past exam questions at hand, I can alter or add anything I've missed. Find somewhere you can work minus distractions..It's not the most fun activity, but repetition, reading through ,including news articles, blogs etc, (this is the purpose of Google alerts, currently I've got students in Florida posting their lectures & discussions online & professional bloggers which means I see points from them I could have missed) and practice will work. Sleep deprivation is however a constant..Zzzz...Good luck
