How tall do you have to be to be short as a man / woman?

I'm 5'4.5 I think I'm in the the middle for a female. I never felt short People always thought I was taller (my rowing coach thought I was 5'6!!) I think my legs are inordinately long for my body, it's my optical illusion of height

That's common in short people -- the difference in height between tall people and shortarses is mainly in the legs not the trunk, I seem to remember from some biology lecture (allometry?).

I'm 5'5 and feel short most of the time.

Same. I know it isn't that short, but it just feels it . Particularly when all your friends (including girls) are pretty much all taller than you. The ONLY good thing about feeling short is that you can use it to your advantage sometimes...that and a lot of guys like to think that you're "cute" (which of course, you have to milk shamelessly), although that's not always a positive.

Yes, I know this feeling . Why is it that all the tall people completely blank you if you're shorter than them and STAND IN FRONT OF YOU?!?!?! It's irritating to say the least.

i've always thought of over 5ft 7inches for a woman to be tall, and over 5ft 10 inches for a bloke.

my dad was only 5ft 5 and three-quarters (the three quarters are of great importance apparently!!) in his prime, and his parents were only about 5ft 2in tall each!!

i thank my lucky stars for making it to the dizzying heights of 5ft 6 !!

I reach the dizzy heights of 5' 2.5''. I used to think I was 5' 4''...my friends scoffed at this. I don't think of myself as a shorty...that's for the 5' and unders...
