I bought new linen recently because I couldn't be arsed to lug all the dirty stuff to the laundrette

Matalan does 300 count Egyptian stuff :)

This thread has made me consider treating myself to a couple of changes of sheets, pillow-cases and pillows.

I'll have to have a massive dyeing session though as black sheets aren't cheap - poly-cotton ones end up quite a pleasant shade of blue, I find.

I needed to dye another 20 pairs of pants in any case ....

What exactly do you think he might catch?

Exactly .. it's only me sleeping in / on 'em ;)

(used to be a bit less hygenic in the (very) old days when it was me, g/f, dog and 2 or 3 cats ...)

about once a week, sometime a day more or less, more often if my asthma's playing up

If it leave it for more than a few days I can't breathe properly

Every week, sometimes more often. I need to keep on top of it or it triggers my asthma. I bought new duvets and pillows last month so i can wash and rotate them regularly, it's made a massive difference.

Why isn't this poll public??

it could have been a kind of an Urban public information service. :D

When they start to smell

Generally about every 2 months

They don't get DIRTY as such cos I don't exactly shit the bed, or sweat copiously, or well, okay, other stuff goes on but that's not dirt imo :D

Oh I'm so glad you said that Soj. I was beginning to feel like I was some kind of scummy peasant for only washing them every couple of months.

weekly, or every 10 days for me... whenever the washing machine is free and there is space to hang the sheets up to dry :)

my friend house sat for 9 months and didnt change his sheets once. when he took the sheet off the mattress if had a brown stripe down the middle which faded through yellow to white at the edges. euw :(

Wellllll, it's just not practical for a start (laundry, and getting em dry), and it's a pain in the arse to do, change bedding, especially if it's simply not required

Exactly. And I've only got two sets of bedding that fit my bed and no garden or room to dry them in. It's just so much faff, and I don't consider them dirty.

Only two sets?? Aren't you away to get married or just married(sorry can't remember)
You know what needs to be on your wish list ;) :D

Or get thee down to Primark or whatever. We have at least 5 sets, can't remember exact amount.

when they start to feel too crumpled , normally 10 days or so. i have a matress and duvet protectors , if i dont have them on it, i change bedding every 5 days or so

Probably about once a month. They don't seem to get that dirty, even though when I leave for work the cat sneaks into my side of the bed!

I haven't changed the sheets for as long as I can remember. I have a cleaner for that. I think they get changed once a week.

I had more, but then we bought a new Kingsize bed and none of them fitted. I'm getting married next May :)

This thread saw me down ASDA buying a 13.5 tog quilt for a tenner.

What a revelation !

I dread to think how much gas I wasted trying to keep myself warm in previous winters :(

I love fresh, clean sheets, but I am also horribly busy and horribly lazy, and I certainly don't change the sheets weekly! Never have, even when I wasn't horribly busy and horribly lazy, in fact :D

I probably did change them more often when I had a partner, and definitely changed them more often when I wasn't sure who might come home with me! :D But those days are long past. Just me now...

Although, to be fair, I am away from home a lot with work, so my bed doesn't get slept in every night anyway.

If I had lots of money and a cleaner, I would ask that the sheets were changed weekly, though :)
