How much would you spend on a face cream?

I will happily spend money on face ceams because I do find that they make my skin feel better, heal faster and scar less. My favourites are decleor for their night balms and elemis masks and the SOS cream (but not that £75 night cream), lush stuff is consistently good and i'll often mix up some essential oils with vitamin e oil too. I baulk at paying more than £35-40 for a cream

nope - i'm not really sure what dry skin on your face would feel like (like on your hands when you've been washing up?)... and i can't say it's been greasy the last ten years or so either.

Wow - my skin would fall off. This country makes my skin incredibly dry so I spend quite a bit on face moisturisers. Clarins is currently my fave - it's £35, but I try to get it duty free. We're going abroad next week so I'll have to stock up. While we're here the Clarins moisture melt cleanser is ace too - it turns into an oil when you rub into your face dry, then you put water on it, it goes into a milk and you wash off. It's great. Sorry for the lengthy post - I'm almost a little evangelical about that cleanser.

Ok, I'm a bit  now. You wear make up so what do you take that off with?? I'm genuinely wondering coz being in London makes my skin feel horrible.

I think I've always thought you'd have a regime as it were :D

Geri, which Aldi one did you buy? Just checekd and I've got the Siana day cream.

Siana day cream and night cream. Had to cycle miles to the nearest Aldi to get them too!

Ordered the Evening Primrose Day Cream and something called Shea Soothing Salve (for my armpit rash) from that website.

Having had trouble with face creams (I also have sensitive skin) I discovered the yellow Clinique stuff was really good for me. Unfortunately it cost £27 or something full price though. :( I think I bought it once, and then just asked my mum for it every other year for my birthday or Christmas present.

However, after my stress related eczema spread to my face I got prescribed Aveeno, which is pretty good. And you can get it off prescription for under £7 too from Superdrug. So at the moment I've changed. The fact it is cheaper is a bonus. :)

I never took to clinique skin products.

I have spent more in the past (btw Espa are a nice make and Guinot products are good) However, usually stick to l'oreal for facial moisturiser, although the body shop do a nice one. Dunno how much it costs but it's bound to be over £8.50, but under £30.

It IS worth shelling out for a half decent eye moisturiser imo.

They're mostly the bloody same. I've bought clarins before. It's nice but I never see any difference over a couple of months.
They're not all the same if you've got sensitive skin ;) I've tried so many 'normal' creams that just leave me with a red blotchy face, with nothing that bad in them, if I find one that doesn't make me itch I stick with it (at the moment t's an aveda one, but that stuff's pricey :()

Was that by your GP? Is it quite pricey otherwise?

Well, my goodies arrived today - and they smell lovely, but are a little oily. The Evening Primrose cream has a very weird texture - it looks like honey! It makes my face feel lovely and soft though, but I think I will use it at night rather than in the day.

I've got a yellow clinique one around here somewhere. Didn't work for me. I can dig out the details if you might want it.

I fall back on oil of olay beauty fluid but I do like to mix things up a bit. I'm haven't been given any expensive pots of clinique for the latest birthday and christmas season so bah. Down superdrug I go.

Same problem, but I didn't really rate the Clinique stuff too highly. Didn't bring me out in spots, but didn't moisturise enough.

Am currently using a L'Oreal one which doesn't seem to bring me out in spots and which seems to be ok.

Tesco do a day cream by Barbra Daley-called facelift, in the make up range-found with the make up products -£6.95- its been highly rated and compared to clinique. I bought some and its great and smells lush!!

...make up so what do you take that off with??
I use Johnsons baby wipes. I was using them before the cosmetics companies launched their own more expensive makeup remover wipes. Why pay loads more for something that does the same job but just has different branding?

I used some Body Shop body butter, I think it was the coconut one, when I had really dry elbows a while back.

Other than that, I haven't been using moisturiser. If anything, my skin has turned really oily. I was on some really strong hormone drugs last spring and summer, and they took a wee while to wear off. Don't know if my newly oily skin is hormone related but it's really annoying and I keep getting random spots, more than usual. :(

Nah, it still costs just under £7 off prescription, so that means you get a total of about 70p off with prescription. :D

Aw thanks, but I've got at least one half full bottle around, and as I said, I'm not really using it anymore.

They're not all the same though. I can't stand the smell of Johnsons Baby Wipes.

Currently about £12.50 for Sanctuary SPF15 stuff and also £19 for Benefits You Rebel Light.

Treated myself to Boots Protect and Perfect yesterday...will report back in 4 weeks!

I didn't notice any difference with it :o

I'm sure it made me spotty as well

sorry - just saw this

i take my makeup off with those wipes (and before they were invented, I used baby wipes). Actually, mostly i don't take my makeup off - but i don't wear much day-to-day.

I'd like to be the sort of person who has a skincare regime, but i don't see any benefit, so I can't ever be arsed.

I love the Aldi one, makes my skin very soft. My mum has used Astral all her life though, and looks at least ten years younger than she is ( no wrinkles at all, and she's 60. :)

lush moisturizers. they don't spend their money on packaging or advertising, so it goes on the ingredients instead. definitely helps my stupid eczema. their body moisturiser is better than any prescription cream.

After going through various moisturisers / face creams, Clarins is the one that works for me and my skin. I use the Energizing Morning Cream (along with other Clarins products). Cots a bit, but they last for ages.

I bought some Creme De La Mer stuff for my sister once. She didn't look any different when she used it to me.

Oh lord, that's that really expensive stuff, isn't it? It's like £40 for a lip balm or summat.
