How much would you pay for a mattress?

I've just had a look at how much the one I have would cost if I bought it now. And just over £800 is the answer.

So - it seems quite a lot! :D

I've had my mattress for ten years and I can put down a cup of tea on the side of the bed and it doesn't tip over. It's interior sprung with a Welsh wool filling either side of the springs and an organic cotton cover.

Worth every penny in my book

The Monmouth from Alphabeds by any chance? Me too if so!

About 5 years old and still the most comfortable place I know.

£100 probably :)

But then again I'd sleep on a mattress I'd got out of a skip.
I have a mattress that was abandoned at a squat-twas clean and is so comfy and lovely-some friends were all funny about it but it's covered with a sheet and was not covered in fleas or anything (well not until it arrived at my house)

I just bought one for $2500, but it's a king size.

Our last bed sucked, and I noticed that I was becoming increasingly stiff and sore on arising in the morning. I think it's worth it to spend money on a bed, since you spend a third of your life in it, and sleep is a key factor in one's wellbeing.

Gosh, and I thought buying a matress for £300 was about as extravagent as it got  (I haven't done that actually. That's the most expensive they have in the Argos catalogue. Yes, I'm a classy bird ;) )

New mattress: £50-£100

Secondhand mattress: £20-45

Secondhand mattress if slept in by fit woman (if single): £500

With or without the sleeping fit woman?
You know, I never thought of that. Preferably with the woman included. But i'd be happy with just the woman residue to snuggle up to at night :D

I paid about £200 for mine I think, was £300 inc bedframe and I don't regret a penny of it. It is heaven.
After going on about my mattress being comfy on this thread last night, went to bed to find it was actually all lumpy and ouchy but I just had not noticed before this thread made me think about it:mad:

I've never bought a mattress, and I don't think I could afford to buy anything at all for the amount of money some people are talking about on this thread. If I had to buy one I'd be pretty annoyed if I had to fork out over a hundred quid.
