How much of your furniture is from Argos?

have you noticed the resemblance between argos stores, dole offices and bookies? lots of chairs bolted to the floor, lots of queues full of resigned looking people along with a few mutterers pacing around looking slightly disturbing, the crush at the counters as you try to secure your entitlement, the bookies pens all over the shop as well as screwed up pieces of paper, and staff for who the phrase 'happy to help' might as well be written down in portugese.

you should visit walworth road or peckham argos' paulie, they're normally quite cheery in them. and the chairs aren't bolted to the floor

meh to Argos. What are we all college bods or what :p Buying Itunes vouchers from there is one thing but furniture :mockhorror:

(and no Ikea furniture either TYVM, although my bedsit was fully Ikea furnished 'back in the days')

None. It's all Ikea or secondhand.

I can always spot Ikea pieces in other people's homes, and probably tell you brand name most of the time.

None whatsoever , although I think in the distant past I bought a set of draws (the ex wife did at least) from there. Fell to pieces.

Now I prefer I bit more substance to my furniture.

Just remembered our computer desk is argos and we've got other bits like a lightshade and possibly some electrical stuff but I can't remember. We've got an argos chair too but it's in pieces in the loft and magic sam bought it before we got together so I don't think that counts. :)

We did have an argos sofa for a couple of years but it was very shit quality.

I thought I had none but then remembered my bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, 'tall boy' and bedside table are all from argos - apart from the wardrobe which is slightly wobbly, the rest of the stuff is very solid and after about 10 years still looking good :) edited, the wardrobe is from Littlewoods not argos and is the worse quality of all the stuff listed.

A couple of (nice! ) wooden blinds and then a theme seems to set in :hmm: .....two wooden shelving things that house 9 seagrass baskets each (one for my sons clothes and one for my daughters toys), a set of three seagrass/rush storage boxes (enormous one contains the shit loads of lego my son has, medium one has all my knitting/sewing stuff in and the smallest one has spare bottles of shampoo/bubble bath/mouthwash/tampons etc in) and finally a small 2 drawer banana leaf thing which sits on the window sill in the bathroom and has plasters/antispetic cream/blah blah blah in.... :hmm: :D

I've got loads of other bits and bobs/kettle/hoover etc, but I think that's it for furniture.
Oooh...did have one of those canvas covered wardrobes and a tv unit thing too, but those have both been given away and replaced by nicer stuff now.

Got a fair bit from Ikea mind you! :p

None. Well not any more. In the past I've had too many tables that imitate the leaning tower of Pisa and too many bendy bookcases.

:D heh, me too

used to have loads of stuff from argos, but realised it was a false economy cos it all falls afuckinpart very quickly

now, I think only my bedside reading lamp, and a free standing mirror in the bathroom is from argos

what's wrong with it?!

Speaking from personal experience, it's shoddy and it falls apart really easily

No snobbery from me, I just prefer stuff that a) actually fucking works longer than a few days and b) doesn't fall apart within a month

Argos is still aka 'my favourite shop' though...because you can buy everything & anything there  :D ...mostly at very competitive prices.
