how much food do you throw away?

Very little, I'm hungry all the time anyway and I plan my meals and buy those ingredients so there is nothing spare to go off unless its left overs, rare I can't finish what I make and if I make more than I need I often eat that for lunch at the weekend as I never know what I am doing.

Hardly anything

Raised in a skint family where nothing was wasted, and the only food in the house was what was gonna be used for meals, and you had to finish your tea.

I'm the oddjob who cuts mould off cheese (it's fine underneath), and picks mould off the corners of bread (again, it's fine when that's gone).

I deliberately make huge vats of food so that I can freeze portions - works out cheaper over time, and if I'm gonna make the effort to cook, then I prefer to have something left over to eat at a later date.

When I do chuck anything away, I'm consumed by guilt.

I dont waste any... however 40% of food is wasted from plough to plate. The food the western world wastes could feed the developing world 3 times over (said a guy on radio 4)

I reckon someone must throw out shedloads coz between feeding the birds, cat eating 'treats', us not being fussed about best before dates and the compost bin we throw out nowt cept the occasional rancid cat food sachet.

The problem I have is keeping things fresh enough and eating them quickly enough.

I've just taken to freezing bread but it requires so much forward thinking knowing you have to defrost two slices to make a sarnie with the next day etc. I've given up buying who bunches of bananas. I just get them one at a time now from the shop so waste is kept to a minimum.

Not much really, shop every other day so don't buy vast quantities and have not much storage and a tiny table top freezer so can't do bulk cooking !

I hate throwing away food! I make a lot of soups and stews so I tend to bung and left over bits of veg in them. This means we rarely throw out veg.

When we buy it, bread and milk sometimes get thrown out at the end of the week cos they end up going off before they are finished.

Cooked food NEVER goes to waste in my house

I tend to buy for meals so not much really, but the last two months I've thrown away a lot more than I feel comfortable with. I haven't been eating properly :(

Much much less since I moved. Got a big freezer now, closer to the shops, more likely to pick up a couple of things at a time during the week. Also try and cycle to the supermarket rather than take the car now, cuts down on how much I buy.

I will cut down on how much I spend dammit!

Much less now that we've altered our shopping methods to a big fortnightly shop and a small one in between - we used to end up chucking a lot of veg before, but now we tend only to get what we need. So I'd say 'Not a lot' now.
