How much do ewe spend on food per week?

A quick search reveals it's about as exciting as "Car Repair Question", "DVDs of old football matches" and "Going bald", Mr Dwyer.

Oi, "Going Bald" was a classic, I got a two-week ban for that one.

I'm intrigued :D

e2a: 24 hours going by the ed on that thread.

I guess extraneous variables added the other 13 days :D

Well, as a guide, I spent £58 today and that covers todays meal and lunchboxes for the next week. Although there was extras like cleaning stuff and I spent £7 on socks. :D

I'm going to keep a record over the next week. Watch this space. :D

Really? Do you only eat pulses and vegetables or something?

No, I eat a balanced diet. Meat/fish veg fruit and a bit of carb filler. I'm saving for travelling so it makes it easier to stay on my food budget yet still buy the odd non-foodie treat.:)

£20 a week is an incredibly small amount though, for three meals a day, seven days a week. Especially if you eat meat and fish.

Lunches & stuff about £50/week at work.

Meals, 3 of us take turns buying meals, my stake is about £80 ish I reckon.

No it isnt. It's just for me.. I dont have a family to feed. I buy big bags of potatoes, pasta and rice perhaps once a month from asian greengrocers. So dont have to buy those everyweek. We have loads of herbs and spices at home to vary meals.
To be fair, I only really eat chicken and fish but every meal i cook lasts me about two days. I buy bread and sandwich stuff for lunches. Fruit as snacks. Conflakes, milk, Frozen veges with meals. Value squash every now and then. Perfect.

Obviously, if im having friends round, I spend more but if it's just me much rather buy just the basics with food. When I wasnt making a conscious effort to save money, I found it is easy to spend £40 a week on shopping but i'll look in the fridge and not have a single thing to comprise a healthy meal, so I stopped all that and sat down and listed all the things I could buy to keep me going for weeks.

Try it MrsT (obv. not if you have a family) but if you cut out all the crap, you actually dont have to spend that much on food.
Sometimes I get bored and would like to buy other things, but think of my travelling trip and being able to afford other things like gig tickets or whatever whenever and I guess, food is a lower priority. :o :D

A lot... £5 per day on work lunches, maybe £3 per day on evening meals. Then probably a two or three meals out / takeaways a week.

I'd guess about £80 not including booze.

We do a big supermarket shop for about £100-120 once a month. I then add about £20 in fruit and veg each week, plus another £20 in corner shop groceries. So say about £300 per month for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Similar though replace corner shop with meat / fish along with fruit and veg on a saturday, try and use butchers fishmongers as opposed to supermarkets...only for 2 adults but between £250 and £300 I'd guess....plus maybe another £100 / £200 on eating out

My veg box alone plus milk costs £14!

To be fair, I'm not trying to save money - and I do like my grub!
