How many cars owned by your household?

If you're in a car-owning household, how many cars are there in total?

  • Total voters
    68
Well, 3 are used (mum's, dad's, brother's) and there's another one but it's in the process of being sold.

Cars are a doomed species, like the dinosaurs once were. They looked impressive for a while but then they were gone.

I understand the sentiment, I even agree with it in theory, but then the practicalities of life get in the way. I couldn't get to work without a car because of the shifts I do. Also I'm a carer for someone who's mobility is steadily decreasing. Public transport has been run down in such a way that it's almost impossible to envisage an intergrated public transport model that would meet my needs. It can never be achieved by trying to coordinate competing privatised companies. And therein lies the rub. It's pointless getting angry with car drivers when the problem lies not with individuals who drive now but with the current structure of society, the totality.

Only one for us. I drive mine part of the way to work & to the supermarket & to my partner's place & sometime to my family up north.

There's no prospect of that increasing although I suspect my older cat would fancy a Ferrari (mid-life crisis) and my younger a Suzuki Jimny (teen princess). Or decreasing either, as I am fucked if I am dragging the little fuckers' litter & tins of cat food home on the 77 bus. :D

Zero, but as that's unthinkable you didn't put an option for that in the poll.
"This one's for car owners"

Kind of hard to be a car owner and have zero cars surely?

As for the poll being "meaningful" - what the fuck does "meaningful" mean? And since when do people on u75 give a shit about how stupid polls are?

Maybe the poll was aimed at people who own cars - and simly wanted to see, out of the people who do own cars, how many oewn more than one (and if so how many).

Why someone would want to know this is probably on par with why someone wnats to know about "Radiohead: shit /not shit".

If someone really thinks it is important and meangingful to have a poll about how many people own cars - including owning zeros cars - then surely they can easily start yet another clone thread of the type that spread like a rash across the forums each and every day (even if the "ironic" ones seem to attract more cudos than the serious ones).

Yep. It asks a general question but excludes a ton of people.

I must admit to being a bit curious as to which Urbs may have owned four or more cars, rather then 'none'...... :D

But it would have been interesting to find out the percentage of car users vs non car owners, (as well as the quad car types) no?

Yes, that's what I meant - it would. I reckon the peeps who put 4 or more are 'avin' a laaarf.

It doesn't ask about how many the poster owns - it asks about the household. SSome households consist of one person - others consist of a whole bunch of people, all of whom may have their own cars.

I was a biker first, though so watch out - you'll be sprouting your own lentils before long. ;)
... until one day she lay too low down on the bike... took a team of crack mechanics to extract her ;)

That makes sense.

Doh!

It does make sense - because anyone who has ever read any of my posts will know I'm clearly lying, whereas if I'd voted for one (the nearest to none) people may have believed me (they might have assumed I'd just bought one).

Or, and let's think about this, you could have not voted at all, because you don't own a car.
