How long does it take you to do your ironing?

After 13 I got my washing done for me, but ironing had to be done myself. I was in cdts, so can still iron a shirt if needed. I just choose not to ware them, unless for a wedding or funeral.

Top tip for trousers I learnt in cdts, rub candle wax in the crease of your trousers, then iron. You won't need to do it again for a long time.

oh angel! how many ucking kids do i have?

do you need to listen to a single thing i say?

ignore me. i'm just feeling indignant and wanting them to pamper you. prolly best i don't have kids. i only want them so i don't have to hire a cleaner...:o

Yep, and when the ironing's done you can always have them clean the chimney and then go and mine some coal, especially as the nights are drawing in and getting colder.

And you only have to feed them on gruel, as well, so they're cost-effective.

:)

I'm feeling picked on now. :(

You're fine!

I apparently own an iron, along with a hairdryer, but both are here purely for "visitors". When the "kids" were at school, I ironed their shirts but those days are long gone and I don't buy stuff that can't be de-creased by hanging after washing.

When we all lived together, it was expected (and enforced cos never happened voluntarily) that they were responsible for their own rooms, and laundry went in the laundry bin else didn't get washed (thank fuck I had girls so they cared!) - we had a rota during the latter years for vacuuming, bathroom etc but it just never worked out. Actually we were made of fail cos the thing that most mattered to me (load dishwasher so kitchen clear for me to cook dinner after work) happened so rarely I ended up hiring a cleaner*.

* To avoid arguments, not cos they get let off scot-free.

It took me 3 hours tonight (including a couple of cigarette/coffee breaks) to iron 72 items of clothing.

And there'll be a basketful by Sunday night again.

What's the laundry situation in your house like?

I iron a shirt on occasion, before work. Takes about two minutes.

I spent a couple of hours last Sunday, but I had piles and piles of it, from my holiday. I don't do much ironing, just an hour or so every few weeks probably. I try and buy non iron stuff if I can, but it isn't always possible and I am not the kind of person who could go out with creased clothes.

How long to do the what?

:D

I do 1 shirt and 1 pair of school trousers on a sunday evening (the youngest is at his dads in the week), i do mine when i need to (not often) and the oldest does his own !

Hate ironing, always have and my oldest have done their own for years !

I also do 3-4 loads of washing on a saturday and that's generally it !

Moo, maybe if they do their own ironing they will stop going through so many clothes !

:D

when i was a teenager living at home i had a fight with my mum so she ironed creases down the front of my jeans

it's time to reap your revenge moomoo!

I iron my work clothes any other items that would look better for a quick iron. I estimate no more than 15 minutes per month.

I sometimes get the notion to iron my sheets but it's never happened. My sis irons my nephews underwear which she realises is a bit much.

occasionally i will iron a shirt, if it is too creased from lying in a pile of cleaned clothes, but if i can get away with wearing it, I won't bother ironing:)

I don't iron, unless something in particular is very creased - I'm maybe ironed two or three things this year. My parents certainly didn't iron my clothes for me when I was a teenager you crazy woman!

Heh! Don't tempt me. :D

Actually, although she might sound like an idle madam - she did inform me that she is busy at school every day, works on Saturday and does trampolining on Sundays as well as one night in the week. She made me feel guilty cos I'm at home all day. :o

I don't iron either, apart from a couple of tops/trousers which really really need ironing - but most of our clothes are hang to dry on hangers and given a bit of a flattening whilst wet so they need no ironing.

Took me about an hour to sort and put stuff away today. I have too many clothes :o Some of it was boys and mans, I just left theirs(in a neat pile beside their drawers) for them to put away though.

I don't really iron tbh, gave it up yrs ago. We have an iron in the house for encaustic art. It occasionally gets used on clothing.

Not very long, I iron two pairs of combats for work and my shirts I dry in coat hangers which end up need needing ironing.
