How long do I boil saveloys for?

How to ruin chips - gravy and the MRM tube of abattoir waste. :(

From memory, I think you'll find that they're a "bit" like sprouts at Christmas - you can never get them on soon enough and boil for long enough - as a general rule of thumb (and using your thumb AS A RULE in this case is exactly what you should do) it's "about" one week's rolling boil for each inch of the saveloy - remember "longer IS better" particularly when it comes to cooking
Then throw it in the bin.

Please can everyone stop saying boiled. You don't boil haggis, or saveloy, or frankfurters. You bring the water to the boil then turn the heat down and simmer them.

If you boil any of the above you are going to end up with a bland mess.

The threads reached boiling point

I eat chips properly - none of that gravy muck here. Or god forbid, curry sauce. Only bloody weirdos ruin their chips with that filth. :(
I don't think I've ever seen you be wrong so many time one one thread!

Anyone who doesn't like chips and curry sauce pretty much excludes their opinions on food from consideration. Add to that the saveloy hating

When I worked in a chippy if the fryer had dropped the ball and we had customers waiting for chips and needing entertaining, my party trick was making saveloys sing by putting them in the microwave for too long

Eta just don’t eat the doirty bastards

I've seen the breakfast thread. I don't trust you on food.

There's nowt wrong with my breakfasts - eating a kilo of veg at the crack of dawn is completely normal. :hmm:

Chips should only come with scraps, salt and vinegar - and no glutinous slop. You're a southerner so obviously allowances must be made for your ignorance. :)

Well you say that but curry sauce wasn't common in chippies down here when I were a lad. It's still not available everywhere. I thought that was a northern thing. Gravy on chips certainly is.

Yeah, but not all northerners are normal. :(

Gravy is just shit really. Watery shit at that. :(

I'm also thinking that I don't ever remember eating a Savoy. I mean they sound grim, but I like most sausages, so really feel like I should have at least tried one.

Like a more spicy peppery frankfurter. They should be awful but they're actually pretty nice.

Next time I see one in a chippy I shall buy one. Although I live in the North, so apparently they are less common. Next time I'm visiting my home town I shall look out.

Yeah I've never seen them in the north but they are good. If you like a northern chippy battered sausage, you'll like them. Completely different thing but the same level of filthy :D
