Touch wood, but - having seen firsthand the security around President Bush (an 80-strong convoy of vehicles including decoys and blocking transmitters, military helicopters and environment 'sensors' for CBW) no redneck nutjob is going to get near him.

I've had secret service people around at a couple events I've run and I've always been impressed by their professionalism. They make a point of meeting you and knowing who everyone is and then they get out of your way and let you do your job.

What the hell do you do YW?

Nothing impressive, trust me. I work part time running dinners, lectures, and receptions for a nongovernmental organization. I've had the Secretary of Agriculture, some under-Secretary of Education, or a foreign Ambassador at the odd event, but usually I just run the A/V equipment and empty the garbage.

My one, none too impressive, superpower is knowing where every electrical fuse box is in the area. ;)

I'd love to have heard the conversation before his victory speech:

SS: 'Yeah, so you can do the speech, but behind that 3 inch glass.'

BO: 'Why?'

SS: 'Uh, no reason...'

I hate the idea of this and it'll probably never happen, but when he walked offstage with his wife I couldn't help but think she was cover.

My wife does something like that. She was involved in the closing dinner at an APEC summit held here. She said the security people were real serious.

I figured you'd married a beautiful and competent woman. :)

And, yes, they were very serious. I was always amazed at how little they were underfoot.

Yep I've always assumed that as well.

Johnny certainly isn't a slacker. He's defo one of the people who's opinion I listen to with interest and who's advice I've always felt was well thought out, meaningful and sincere.

I guess what I am saying is, I've got loads of time and respect for JC, always will, always have, and I'm sure I would have the same for his wife as well if she were on these boards.

Now I don't think that will happen....I get the feeling these are Johnny's playing fields.;)
