The A15 is bloody dangerous. Like so many of those Lincolnshire roads, it's dead straight and fast but with loads of hidden dips and unexpectedly sharp corners. AFAIK it's one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the UK.
Doing about 100 one day I decided to, foolishly, overtake a truck on that long curve passing Scampton, the car coming the other way was a little surprised! (Managed 115 along the Holton le Clay by-pass once, (A16) Overtaking a car, another pulled out, I went wide, nearly shat myself as another car was coming towards me. Not such a maniac now)

I've been at the top speed of an R1, which the web tells me is 185mph. I was too busy looking at the (straight and empty) road speeding by to look at the speedo.

Whoooaaa!!! It always amazes me when I hear of speeds done on bikes. With no protection other than a helmet. Not something that I'd ever consider doing myself.

Think the fastest I've been on a bike was 40 on some automatic Puch thing hired in Benidorm when I was a teenager. :D

Well, it was 49.5mph and I guess I'll never get to hit that 50mph target now.

It was ruddy exhilarating mind but the bike (Reynolds 653 tubing, low racing aero bars) didn't feel too stable at that speed and the road below started to look mighty potholed to my eyes so I wussed out.

I even managed 44mph on my Dahon folding bike last year and that was like riding a wobble board in a storm! Never again!
You should have go, must be really exciting to do that sort of speed on a bike. And you only live once, Just do it (you know you want to!)

One night around 3am I did Bristol to London on a CBR600 with the throttle on the stop for the whole journey, probably 140 - 150 all the way. Don't think I saw more than about 5 cars for the whole journey.

I got my old Skoda up to 118mph before running out of empty motorway. It was Christmas day at night on the M23. I reckon it had another 5-10mph in it.

40mph on a bicycle going down Devil's Dyke was actually more fun and far more scary.

The only legal requirement is a helmet... but I wouldn't have done it if I was leathered up to the max at the time. Although, at that speed, I might have just survived... wouldn't like to take any bets on how intact my leathers and body would be when I finally slid to a stop.

Looking back, it was a very stupid thing to do, but I'm sad to say I'd do it again.*

***DISCLAIMER*** On the proviso that the conditions where the same... 3am, no cars, fairly straight road with no police lurking.

If im coming home late i regulary top 130-140 in my Corrado VR6.
Iv done 150 in my old boss' TVR Griffith 500. My old fella has got CLK430. Thats limited to 155 but iv had it flat. Years ago i was a used car salesman for a well known London dealer. A customer part ex'ed a '89 911 Turbo. i was allowed to run around in it until it was sent off to auction. Had regular stints of getting up to 170 on the motorways. It was great cos i was only in my early twenties. Also iv got a couple of mate into their bikes. Had a couple of fast stints but not at the 150 mark.

About 145mph on the M4 in the back of my dad's car with him high on crack. AMG Mercedes I think. Yes I was scared as he drives like a cunt but thinks he's Schumacher.
He wrote the car off with me in the passenger seat back in London a few months later. Doing 80mph on Elms Crescent. Black cab pulled out (just as I was saying 'slow down you cuuuuunt!') and we hit it, then a parked jeep and another parked car and came to a dead stop after landing on all 4 wheels. He managed to blame the cab driver even though the chassis was bent on the jeep. I shit it now if anyone drives too fast in residential areas.

A friend of mine done 165mph on a motorbike in France with his girlfriend on the back for about 20 mins. When he stopped he found his girlfriend had been crying through the entire journey even though she was up for it at first.

previously it was around 160 170 or so in one of these...

Dare I ask how fast you've been in the *proper* Bentley, garf?
it'll sit happly at 110 all day but at a push it'll do about 119 but it's shake the fillings from your teeth at that point... and you have to book your braking distances about 3 months in advance... ;) it's currently off the road atm beign rebuild the engines not been done for 10 years so needed it... we've be lent a speed 6 for the season (fuck me it's heavy to steet i've driven old lorrys with out power steering which have better steering... christ knows it'll do about 140 or there about's i'd imagine no speedo though only a rev counter...

driving: 135mph in a 318is coupe on the mway in Belgium, felt like it was stuck to the tarmac with superglue

bring driven: 145mph in Dad's XJS on the M4 (yeah, he used to drive like a twat and has generally got a lot to answer for)

I reckon my car will do about 170 but I'm not about to test it as it needs an aero kit first (front spoiler and big vent holes in the bonnet to stop it taking off), I've done about 130 in it

73mph with the foot to the floor and a queue behind me in my Morris Minor.

Doors started shaking, and I thought it was going to fall apart!

Born to be wild!
