How fast are your interwebs?

oh, ok here's mine

On my new Bulldog line:

I'm pretty close to the exchange here. I've done it a few times and 6K-ish download, 500-ish upload is quite typical.

Well this is the last day's usage. As you can see its hard to fill it with torrent traffic alone, plus it hadn't been running azureus for the last 24 hours straight (ntop-24.[ng)

However, grab an iso from somewhere close like virgins gentoo mirror and it slurps it like its going out of fashion (ntop-0-10.png)

And Be at home:

Though I tend to max out usenet at 18.5 mb. These results can be quite variable can't they.

Does show that a hell of a lot of us are using Be though, dunnit?

I love them. Lets hope they don't get fucked up when it's rebranded o2 broadband.

I used to love Pipex, then it all went to shit and we got a divorce.

I have mostly thought they pretty good, having never actually chosen them... I first started with a company called "Cambridge Cable", which were then taken over a few times until it settled into Pipex. Their customer service is very good, which makes a difference, but I am now wondering whether I am paying too much!

would anyone care to suggest why my upload speed is so slow compared to my dl speed?

That's normal isn't it? You have to pay through the nose to get symmetric up and down.

Ah, I wouldn't know about these things. I'm on the same package that my then flatmate took out over 5 years ago - athough it was a 1MB connection back then and it's 20MB now.

Yep, SDSL is priced as a premium product over here. Not everywhere else though.

But there's a third way, Annex M !! (aka ADSL 2+M)

It allows some of the line spectrum normally used for downloading to be shunted across and used for uploads. Its also transparent from the users pov provided their router supports it.

Be support it over here (so the beboxes have to support it), and with the right kit and line conditions it can double your upload speed to 2.4M, albeit at the expense of two or three meg off your download sync speed.

Pah. I used to get around 6Mb when I was with F2S. Think I'm one of the few people to be unimpressed with Be. Connection drops the whole time too, and they're not responding to either of the complaint tickets I've started on their website.
