How far do you guys travel to work, and how?

I cycle to work from Brixton to the Strand. It's about 4 miles and takes me about 20 minutes. If I am going out in the evening and don't want to cycle under the influence I take the 59 ;)

I always walk to work, but someone will bring me the car if I am going on after work. Work is about 200m away, the car is parked about 1km from work which is why someone brings it for me.

2.2miles by car. About ten mins. It's a very small car, but i'm still a planet-raping lazy-arse.

the same journey by busses would take about an hour.

the same journey by bike would involve treatment at King's for cardiac arrest.

Charlton to Greenwich - 2.5 miles or thereabouts - 35 minutes on foot or 10-25 on the bus depending on traffic.

Or working at home, in which case an hour or two to stir myself away from the computer and get on with what I'm supposed to be doing. :o

on th 159 each morning, i can't help notice all those black cars with addison or something written on them? normally they are driving business looking people.

posh taxi company? anyone know?

Kilburn to Uxbridge most days by tube. Sometimes I go to Embankment instead. Or Farringdon. On some other days I have to go to Reading, Gatwick or Southampton when I get the train. If I go to St Albans I drive. My life is very exciting transport-wise

Uxbridge is a place of joy isn't it?

My commute is about two and a half miles. I drive since I need the car for work. I'd prefer to walk.

For that sort of distance you could totally save overall energy consumption by selling your car and getting a mobility scooter:

I live on the very edge of London and my daily commute by car is about 17 miles each way.

It can take anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours depending on the time of day and traffic but averages out at about 50-55 minutes.

Or walk. Great way to get fit. should only take 30-40 mins (how does it take an hour on the bus!)

From Dalston to Islington, a 35 minute walk. Will soon be moving up to Clapton which means an hour either way (an hour on foot, 50 mins + 10 spare for the bus = the same) but am happy to lose the extra time as I won't be living in fucking Dalston. :)

Me too!!!! :) mines more of a 23minute walk though!!! but your moving to Clapton!!!!....all the best with that!

Sutton to London Bridge.

It's annoyingly far (~40 mins), but that's mitigated by having only a 5 minute walk (tops!) at either end.

but 40 mins versus 10 mins = 30 mins in bed!
Plus it would blatantly take me over an hour. am slow and heavy.

it takes an hour because it's 2 busses, one is a 37 () and if either of them are cancelled or late i'm screwed - can not be late. Hence have to build in 20 mins contingency time.

london bridge to regents park - can do it in half an hour if all is on my side, but generally 40mins

can either be lazy and get tube to waterloo then another to regents park = 3 min walk other side

or

get tube all the way to baker street = 15 min walk other side

Amsterdam west to Maarssen (near Utrecht) distance about 30kms. 20 mins Bike, 30 mins Train, 10 mins Bike - takes me about an hour to an hour and fifteen. I hate how long it takes me to get home, but I quite enjoy relaxing on the train, which is always half empty.

Journey takes the same time or less than it used to take me to commute from Tulse Hill to Oxford Street (mind you, half an hour of that was sitting on Tulse Hill on a bus in traffic).

My first job in Amsterdam used to take me 9 mins to cycle there. I think I need to find a job in town...

Kingston to Isleworth - in the car takes about 20 minutes so long as I don't have to go during peak hours, which is rare. I occasionally cycle it, which has its moments along the river.

I just measured it and it's 4 yards at the moment. Unless i go via the kitchen to make a cup of coffee when i'd say it's about oooo 25 yards. I walk.

Spitalfields to Camden. 15 minute walk up Great Eastern Street to Old Street tube, 4 stops to Camden Town, 5 minutes walk to work from there.

35 minutes travelling = 45 minutes bed to desk. Far to fucking long if you ask me.

The longest commute was 2 hours each way - bike, train, tube, train, and the final mile on foot. WTF was I thinking of?
