Also, I think the idea of having sex with strangers, filming it and distributing it across possibly the world, is a bit of a daunting idea to most people. To get paid a mere few hundred quid for it sounds absurd. I guess for most of those involved it's just a job though. I dunno.

Obviously it depends on your attitudes towards casual sex, just as plenty of other jobs depend on various other personal attitudes (ie. the attitude towards being a nob for a policeman/politician/traffic warden), and even if you only did one sex scene a week - quite possible if you're got the stamina and the "it" factor, considering the amount of grot films that get released every month - that's still a healthy amount of money leaving you six days a week to piss around and do what you want.

There are all sorts of other moral and ethical problems with the porn industry, but I don't think the wages are particularly bad, what with the skills required and whatnot

It's not really about the skills - it's about what it costs the individual.

There are an awful lot of people out there who would pay more than that NOT to have nude/shagging photos of themselves all over the internet. Given the level of sacrifice etc, 200-400 doesn't seem like much.

A good freelance web programmer makes somewhere in that region. High-class call girls charge that an hour. Both jobs you can do lieing down. I think there's probably a connection there.
