I find peeling them fun but realise it's pointless - I don't even wash them now

give em a bit of a wipe if they need it, maybe chop the very ends of the stalks off, then chop 'em in whatever way is needed.

Button mushrooms I rinse under a running tap wiping the top over with my thumb to remove any dirty bits. I dab them dry with a paper towel and then slice off the brown bit at the bottom of the stem and then slice them before cooking them in olive oil for not very long.

If I am having them raw in a salad I clean as above then quarter them. Always when I prepare mushrooms I will eat several raw as I go.

I was peeling mushrooms last night and thought of you and this thread. I even tried not bothering, merely throw them straight in the bowl with a bit garlic but no. I can't bring myself to do it. I am a mushroom peeler and I am proud
