How do you define the part of London that you live in?

We live in a bit that's between Turnpike lane and Seven Sisters. It not really a place, and it's hard to describe. Postally it's in South Tottenham, but no-one calls it that.
Between Green lanes and Lea Valley sounds nice, I'll start calling it that.

I live in a 'non' place as it's kind of on the outskirts of 4 different areas - leytonstone, leyton, stratford & forest gate. (lucky me )
I can go for a 10 minute walk round the block and the postcode can change 4times

With a proper d? Not a glottal ellision?

Give me my piping back, you oik.

It's quite difficult to write it as I say it. At least I don't call it Siddenum, like the woman who does the train announcements. Nobody calls it that.

West Green Road?? I rather like South Tottenham - makes it sounds posh...

I used to know someone who lived in Ladywell according to the agent who flogged her the place, except it was Catford to everyone else. She wasn't having it, though.

I live close to the cusp of where 'London' ends and a town starts, it's interesting because how you describe where you live depends on a very few streets and whether you're a native to these parts or an 'Ouslander'.

Peope who grew up here would say they live in Beckenham or Penge, but others might say London - but then they wouldn't say London two streets farther out.

I suppose the same thing happens in places like Thornton Heath/Croydon, Catford/Bromley, Sheen/Richmond, etc.

We are West Green Road, I suppose that sounds ok, actually!

South Tottenham though, poosh? :confused::eek::hmm::D

I think that editor's threads on Tottenham have put me off the very word. :D

There isn't really anything too defining about where I live.
Can just be boring and just say "Newham" - which blankets everything...

How exciting does that sound?!

Leafy Surrey!!

Me too! :D

That covers a big area!!!

It does cover a big area and because I have a "CR" postcode people always assume I live in Croydon but I most definitely do not!

So I'd say I'm just outside London (in Surrey Propah) but still in Zone 6  - No one's every heard of the place I live in so I'm always having to spell it.

Most definitely "Leafy Surrey" though ;)
