So both wordpress and blogger can tick my extensive list of needs?

I can rant (and people can add comments)
I can put up my photos (pretty decent quality)
I can link to youtube and other sites.

Seems wonderfully simple... i love it when technology does that.

Which would you say is the better of the two?

Wordpress has a less cluttered interface (IMO), but blogger is backed by google and seems to have better reliability.

Not much to choose between the two, tbh. I'd use blogger, as many people already have accounts there, which makes commenting easier.

I have to throw in my usual suggestion here: Mr. Site. It'll cost you about £3 per month, but you do get what you pay for. The interface is astonishingly simple and will create for you a really professional looking, easy to navigate website in a matter of minutes. It works as a WYSIWYG layout, so it's like using Word.

This page has some sample websites created using Mr. Site so that you can see for yourself. We used it to create a wesbite for our flat and it was recommended to us by a friend who is a professional trumpet player and used it to create a site to sell his services and products.
