how can you get the cheapest rail tickets?

I booked with National Express (East Coast mainline) and it was a doddle. £20 return to Leeds. V. Pleased to discover that they have FREE wifi on their trains which makes a change. Paid 22 euros for wifi in a hotel in March and got excruciatingly slow dial up.

if you don't qualify for a young persons railcard, why not get a network rail card? same price, same discount, but you can only use it on a particular network.

still, it pays for itself on a £60 return journey...
