How can I tell what something is made of?

It's by Fiorelli.

It looks very much like leather, but is very smooth and doesn't smell like leather.

I suspect it isn't or it would say - and £35 is very cheap for leather. Here is a pic:

But I think it's likely they'd say on the website if it WAS leather (and yes, £35 sound too cheap for a Fiorelli leather bag - especially a large one - although if Geri just bought it, she would've had a 25% discount from Debenhams).

Anyway - by way of an update, I took it back, then went to House of Fraser, bought a leather one in there, took that back, went back to Debenhams and bought another bag for £60 which they told me was leather, then I found a label inside saying "100% manmade materials"

So I have paid £60 for a non leather bag. But is is nice, and I'm fed up of looking at bags, so I've decided to keep it.

And I cut up my interest free credit card with a pair of scissors to try and curb my obsessive handbag buying behaviour!

Just incase you're thinking of changing it again.... ......if you go to the Debenhams site, then Accessories, then handbags and purses, you can do a search of 'all leather bags'.

I don't like that one - I wanted one with two straps, long enough to put over my shoulder but short enough to carry without dragging on the ground.

I'm happy with the one I've got now - although I could have got it cheaper on Thursday if I had thought to look in the shoe department
