How big is a 3.5k rig?

ok, so I've not got tons of cash, so I'd rather do it on the cheap.

I recon a 500x500 would be plenty loud enough. That's 500 at 8 ohms, right? And I'd want to pair it with a couple of 8 ohm speakers capable of handling 500w rms?

I'm gonna look at powered speakers.

so what your saying is you want a 1k amp outputting 500w per channel in to 8ohms and 2 full range cabs at 500w at 8ohms rms

or 2 full range powerd 500watt cabs ;)

4ohm would be more efficient, in that you'll get the same bang at 250w a channel 8ohm amp driving thru 4 ohm boxes

Please note my .95k rig running in a flat at around half power rattled the front door, 4 floors below
Equally running it in a tent in someones back garden at around 80/90%, we got complaints from 2 miles away

Hence the noise abatedment order, etc

the pair of things you bought with the tweeters in the middle are full range and a called dual concentric
:

Thanks. it's been two years since I touched anything bigger than a computer speaker and I totally forgot.

Big fuckers to shift but did they work well. Blasted the sound out in a large way.
Dirt cheap as well. I didn't actually buy them as such, more took them instead of cash from a crap payer. A few hours labour only so I got a bargain.

not wanting to pic bones but if you have an 8ohm amp you cannot run 4 ohm cabs as you will burn out the amp! if you have a 4 ohm amp it is more efficent for the amp to drive 4 ohm cabs than 8 ohm cabs but that is a power handerling issue.

As for the rattlerley door 4 floors down an intresting thing would have been to see if the doors 2 floors down where ratterling (only from a nerdy sound point of view) as a bass wave crest is around 35 foot long at its arc and can presureize in some really odd places but not others... take my motorbike the sub coming from the engine makes my windows rattle upstairs and the back door of the house but does not effect the front door at all... unless i ove the bike over the road then it just does the front door.!! :hmm:

sorry im a sound nerd and i love it its like alchamy
