Housework - discuss

....I was just about to rise to that one....

I'm just wondering whether herbsman becomes temporarily really really boring while he's picking things up (sorry mate, not allowing the house to get messy = housework, got you bang to rights, me old mucker), and then really really interesting again once he stops. :D

I spent what feels like at least half the week pulling really long blond hairs out of the plughole in the bathroom. It drives me to distraction. I have short red hair - it's not me!! I never know whether it would be a bit much of me to ask my housemate (whose hair it is) to do it herself... cos it does make me feel like retching... but I can't exactly wake her up in the morning to ask her to do it before my shower.

Plughole hair is just grossness.

It's weird, there are some jobs I'm totally fine with doing and others I fucking loathe. The kitchen is my main domain of cleanliness - I am perfectly happy washing up, putting away, cleaning surfaces and floors, cleaning cats' bowls and generally keeping a nice clean kitchen. I even defrosted the freezer at the weekend and cleaned the fridge out cos it stank.

Elsewhere, I like to think of myself as laidback. HATE vaccing, crap at tidying, never even think of dusting. Fortunately the mister likes and is good at all of these things, so it works out quite nicely really. Although we did have a row this morning about the fact that I leave piles of paperwork, unopened bank statements and the like, all around the place.

Occasionally I will have a housework orgy and get the whole house sparkling clean. Usually this only happens when the sun is out though - if the weather's grey it only inspires me to stay in bed with the curtains shut, eating biscuits in my tea-stained pyjamas.

Seriously though, it doesn't actually seem like we do do much housework at all, if we keep stuff tidy in the first place i.e. cleaning up any mess immediately after it's made. Obviously it's still housework, but it's just smaller amounts, bit by bit rather than having a 'housework session' so to speak. Plus we have a certain level of 'tidyness' that we accept :D

I do what I need to when I think that someone is going to see it :o My very hunky neighbour has just been round to visit and I sort of cleaned the bathroom whilst pretending to pee, shut my bedroom door on the way past and chucked stuff in the dishwasher whilst he opened the wine :)
.

THis is what I do too - except I don't have a hunky neighbour:(

I enjoy do housework, gives me a nice sense of control over my environment I suppose... :D

on a daily basis I just do the essential (cooking/cleaning up dishes), then about 2 or 3 times a week I'll tackle something different, so one evening I might clean the bathroom, on another I'll do the kitchen floor, on another the laundry and so on. I'll never spend more than 30 minutes on it, so it never feels like I've done lots of housework. Also I spend about 5 mins every night just generally putting things back in their place, such as toys and clothes.

I helped my boyfriend clean up his flat last weekend, and because he hadn't done it for so long it was an absolute nightmare, took hours!

I much rather keep on top of it than let it go for so long, because then it becames too much of a chore and it's not enjoyable anymore.
