I had a friend in Huddersfield who was a 'house husband'. He got called a "poof" a couple of times when pushing his kid's buggy around.
I woudn't think they were a poof, but I would think they were a lazy opportunist

My mate says he feels like the mums think he's a nonce when he takes his daughter to nursery.
Maybe we should start throwing patronising comments at women when we see them driving, working, drinking, carrying their own bags. It's just not natural

Care to elabortate on why you think this is such an unnatural and strange choice?
Personally, I'd love for my wife to work full time and earn enough for me to stay at home with our [unconcieved] children and look after the house. I've worked in a very high stress full time office environment and landscape gardened outside of that for years now to support us both and help out while she's at uni. Once the kids reach toddler age, I could think of nothing better than to take some time away from the daily drivvel and enjoy homelife for a few years...

Um, it's the middle of the day and he's a house husband. It is odd and unusual and this was reflected in the suspicion and the attitude of the women at the time, 12 years ago. Attitudes have changed some but it still aint the norm.
