I love people coming to stay as long as they muck in and share the cooking and stuff.

I also don't invite people back if I've ended up skivvying for them.

I have people to stay for the w/end or - at least - Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Quite often it's the only way to catch up properly with old friends from London - Devon's a bit far for them to pop down for a quick drink! :D

Minuses: I feel compelled to clean the house from top to bottom so it all looks and smells lovely

Pluses: it's a good excuse to be thoroughly indulgent cos you want to make sure they have a good time! It means I can justify spending all afternoon in a beer garden or going for Sunday lunch somewhere :D

Equal plus and minus: I always want to feed them up and cook for them so I spend ages planning what food to make and then fretting if they liked it! :D

mate when you come you'll just have to take us as you find us :D we dont' do "top to toe" housework before people come :o just enough to take the edge off :D

I used to have an open house many yearz ago but people took the piss a bit, the last person i had stay was one of me mates from Bristol who stayed for the night.

Used to love it when younger - had parties all the time, loads of people round all weekend. These days, if they're not gone by lunchtime the next day I start to get really grumpy. Luckily, my mates all know me very well, so they do actually all fuck off in good time, and with good grace :D

Had to chuck one mate out who stayed 'til he got his own place' and then told me AFTER he'd moved in that it might take up to a year  He was also Aspy - which has only been diagnosed in the last year and makes perfect sense, but at the time I just wanted him to shut the fuck up and let me get a word in edgeways. We love each other again now though:D

Ugh. My home is my refuge - I don't want other people in it

I even had trouble when my mother stayed a few years ago. IIRC she only stayed a day or two too

How I cope with my husband living here is anybody's guess.
:D I used to be exactly like this and am only marginally more accommodating now.

Poor axon came to stay for a few days before Christmas last year which was lovely for us but not so good for him. littlebabyjeseto and I had only just given up smoking and we were generally snappy and irritable, and then we had the most almighty row when we thought axon was out. He wasn't. :o

Friends crashing overnight-ish are fine, everyone else can fuck off. :)

I can only afford to rent a 1 bed flat, so if I have people staying over that means giving up the living room and decamping to my boudoir. I've had family stay over for the weekend a few times, and I've had various urbanites staying overnight, no doubt doing unspeakable things to my unsuspecting house plants, on many occasions.

The place is far too small to have anyone stay for more than a couple of nights, so it's not really much of an issue.

I quite like having people stay every now and again. I like it even more when they finally leave.

;)
