Hotwater bottles...do you use one ?

I feel the cold so easily it sucks, but I only have 1 hwb which is past its best, I have my eye on a new one :hmm:

My HWB split last year. Luckily it wasn't when the water was hot though. Think I'll just stick with lavender/wheat/cherry stones bags in future. Much easier just heating in microwave than filling HWB

no. don't see the point of them when you have central heating. who want a heat source so close and right against your body? eugh

Leccy blankets are far better. Although my kid has a bagpuss hot water bottle, I don't want him getting too soft! :)

When I was a kid I stayed at a mates house and her granny put boiling water in a glass lemonade bottle and wrapped it in a towel to heat our bed. There were no accidents but my mum wasn't best pleased!

My grandma used to use a copper warming pan, with coals from the fire, to take the chill off before I got into bed.

One of these?

I quite fancy what I've seen in China (well I saw it on Inn of the Sixth Happiness), and they slept on concrete beds that had sort of ovens underneath them. I'd like one of those

I am unconvinced by the microwavable jobs, mostly because the only ones I've seen aren't big enough :hmm: when I have a sore back or whatever I want something that gets very hot and covers a wide surface area.

My friend from China says they had these really heavy plug-in cube-shaped ones that you charge up during the day. They sound better than faffing about with boiling water but I've never seen anything like that over here.

Always have a hot water bottle when it's proper cold and I don't have a human equivalent handy.

edit: and I also salute the epic bump.

I sometimes want one even when I do have the human equivalent handy because he overheats really easily and I don't!

I'm a bit like 'him'. Hot water bottles are good cos you can kick them out of thermal range when they get too hot.

With a living partner even if you smother them with a pillow they take hours to cool down.

Get a cushion cover or other suitable size thing and fill with wheat. I got my wheat from the pet shop(sells it loose) Dunno if that's doable down by you. I think it's 2lb wheat takes up to 3 minutes in the microwave. I can check if you like?

Nope dont find the need, even sleeping alone in a currently unheated flat naked. Infact its about the perfect temperature this way :)

I love my hot water bottle, have just bought new fluffy covered one, its a good idea to keep an eye on the water you empty from a hot water bottle, if there are bits in it, its time to get a new bottle.

My granny used a stone hot water bottle to heat the bed

minus the rolling pin which I'm guessing is for scale.

Hot water bottle make winter almost worthwhile

ooh...what's that with the bits?...I had that recently and then sometime later (many weeks) I had a leaking bottle.

I bought my friend a hot water bottle last year....he had complete kidney failure which for ages went undiagnosed and he couldn't stay warm so the grey fluffy bottie I got him was perfect.
