Hot Chip

i was hoping they'd be good, as i have a fantastic remix they did a few years ago... sadly, they sound like the low fidelity all-stars, and are therefore pooh.
I forgot about those wankers - thanks for reminding me -

I'm going to see them in october cos Junior Boys are their support. They seem like a guitarsy studenty indie irono-shite version of the far superior JBees.

They done a free show in New York a few weeks ago which I seen about half of. They were not bad. I like that 'girl from school' song but some of their others were a little dull and I have no real regrets about leaving midway through.

I love the first album and want to get the current one. I can imagine they may not be very exciting live though - it's sort of 'headphones' music really.

Heard one album. Can't remember which one. The first I think. As you can tell they didn't leave much of an impression but I'd give them another go.

The mate who leant it me said their other album was more acoustic.

I wouldn't have said they were "for the masses" at all.

That comment, btw, is very sneery. Better than the masses, are we?
Of course - I have better taste in music. The masses are responsible for the popularity of the likes of U2 and Mariah Carey :p

i know your being sarcastic here but the 'masses' also likes the beatles, rolling stones, oasis etc etc etc.

I'd never really got into Hot Chips music, but I saw them at Dour by chance and they completely won me over, perfect music for a sunny afternoon at a festival. Almost beach boys-esque in the song writing and scale of what they were doing.

I've only manage to listen to the new album once so far, tis a rather interesting dance album indeed.

The synth explosion on Shake A Fist, in particular, nearly melted my face off.

I love 'The Warning', although it makes me sad at the moment for personal reasons. Really wanted to see them live at Prima last year, but by the time they came on I was so catastrophically pissed I could barely stand up, so we made our excuses and left :(

I don't really like them, but it annoys me that I have to concede that they are actually rather good.
I did see them at Prima last year and they were very fun.

But I used to see them loads at uni because one of them was studying at the same time as me and was a FOAF. I can always remember being unimpressed, so I was really surprised to discover that about a year after graduation they were already massive in Japan, and gaining momentum over here too.

They were the support act for someone i went to see a couple of years ago. music was pretty good but i remember then wearing massive comedy sunglasses and the like which really irritated me
