Horne and Corden

Apparently Pulling has been (ironically) pulled so these 2 twats get away with making utterly shite tv whereas a funny and slightly surreal series gets the old heave ho.

What do we pay our license fee for!!!!!

(well, i don't, the missus does but ykwim)

Pulling has been pulled?

* Victor Meldrew voice on *

I don't believe it!!!!

I might phone the BBC too!!!

The first series of Nighty Night was ace. The second sucked donkey balls :(

I agree, probably expectations were too high!

(Never heard of Clone, Griff, but I did enjoy Pulling and Nighty Night)

according the grauniad review posted earlier on it is....

Warm isn't enough; a comedy needs to be funny. G&S isn't; it's schmaltzy, unsurprising and lame. And, as my wise and knowledgeable friend Gareth McLean has pointed out, far inferior to the inexplicably pulled Pulling

saddest thing i heard about this carcrash was that kathy burke was involved in this as well apparently (production or direction or something). they're a pair of untalented unfunny wankers imvho.

I know :( love Kathy Burke, the guardian said the homour was about as sutle as a chimp scratching its arse, after watching H&C last night it was a case of "bring on the fuckin arse scratching chimp!!!!!" would'nt be any worse.Some-one should tell Condon "yes mate we know your fat like, dos'nt mean your funny"

Couldn't be bothered looking for the Guardian review, but are they saying that Gavin & Stacey isn't funny?

They clearly just think they are national treasures. It's sad when you see people labouring under the misaprehension that people really love them and have a limitless tolerance for their tedious bullshit. I'm aware of the irony in my being the one to say that.

Hhahaha. This, though.

It's quite sad because I actually think he is funny, I've seen him on some panel shows and stuff and he's been pretty good and held his own and given me some laughs, but just recently it's been a bit of an overkill. They are everywhere, with the Brits, the film, this and other stuff. And it's quite obvious he's starting to think a helluva lot of himself.

I didn't see this because I could tell from the ad it was going to be kaiser.

Yeah, are you talking about when he was on......Buzzcocks, was it? Or the quiz of the year? There was one when he owned the show, not by necessarily being hilarious but by sheer force of personality and by seeming really likeable. From interviews and anecdotes I've seen and heard since then though, it's pretty clear that his ego is now out of control. It looks like he is totally unprepared for the backlash as well, I bet he thought he was on one way ticket to Peggsville.

G&S is a warm pair of slippers rather than some hilarious hot sex. Neither of those really work, but you get what I mean. Spaced, for instance, was original, bizarre and funny and deserved its success and the future success of Pegg/Stephenson etc.

G&S is just a slight twist on a very well established formula with a few pop culture references that sound funny referenced by old people (at first) and that sort of thing. There's nothing original about it, but it's enjoyable to watch like a souped up My Family. The lack of originality meant that the creators never had legs outside of it though; they were never gonna be Gervais/Merchant, Coogan etc.

i blooody hope so cos so many people have been suckered by that heap of poo as well its untrue.

Well I think it's on a different planet to Horne & Corden. Some of the humour is very subtle, the characters (the elderly next-door neighbour in Barry & the friend and her rowing husband loooking for the threesome especially) are very amusing.

In fact it was just raising a chuckle first time round, but actually has got better by seeing it again.

A rarity these days. :(

bah humbug!

Not seen Horne and Corden - but I do think Gavin and Stacey has merit and Corden co wrote it with Ruth Jones - Nessa. I suspect the latest series is a case of thrash the cash cow. Not much work and time on the hands = produce some excellent writing viz early Gavin and Stacey - followed by rise in popularity and rush of tempting offers followed by churning stuff out on the back of previous success followed by rapid drop in popularity.

This is a very rational and accurate description I think.

It's all got a bit out of hand. That Cordon fella blatantly loves the limelight and has been given free reign to do what he wants on the back of the success of G+S.

And it's all gone a bit wrong.

I just wish he'd get out my face for a bit, you know?

Yes, I can't remember what show it was, there were probably a few. I went through a phase of watching every comedy panel show there was and he was probably on all of them at some point.

I just remember him being quite self deprecating and had funny stories, and he wasn't some big dry wit, but he was really amiable.

But you're right, he's obviously got so carried away with all the hype and praise and started believing it, which is always where you go wrong. He thinks everything he does is going to be funny. And, apparently, it isn't.

Although, I saw a bit of a clip of Smithy talking to the England football team for Comic Relief and that looked quite amusing.

But really, it's just been an overkill of his face everywhere I look. They should remember that British people are fickle and will get fed up with you if you keep popping up in every magazine and telly show going.

He puts me in mind of a shitter Ricky Gervais.

I saw them on the Secret Policeman's Ball and all they did was run around the stage like a couple of drunken pricks at a wedding. It was tragic.
That's what it was that I saw them on before!

I couldn't remember what the programme was, but I do remember their act, and the thought that either I was missing something, or they were crap.

They 'presented' the Brits last month and were about as funny as cancer of the scrotum, made Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox look good.
