As i've said in other posts - The word gay is not the most amazing word to describe people that have sexual relationships with people of the same sex. Although, it now seems the accepted word to use. Its neither offensive or negative.
So I hate to hear peolpe going on about 'this being 'gay' or 'that being gay'.
It's trying to yet again claim a positive word that is in use already and turn it into a negative.
You're right though Sojourner, it won't change the world...! However, I gotta say it would have changed my world if such a policy had been in place when I was a kid. At the time (in the '80's) the AIDS thing was all kicking off and gay and AIDS related jokes were rife. Now to some kids the jokes and name calling may not have had any impact, but to me, being gay and frightned to fuck that anyone would discover, it was major. Really fucking major....! Today, all's great, got a very healthy attitude to my sexuality but I can't help thinking how much easier a road it might have been had you (or someone like you Sojourner) been around then.
I also have a nagging thought that some of the bullying may have toughened me up and made me more able to deal with life.
