TP-Link AV1000 Gigabit Powerline ac Wi-Fi Kit review

Oh, I thought it was someone newly asking how to pair three, but it looks like that was old.

The first product you link to looks good. No Wi-Fi or pass-through electricity, so relatively basic, but if that's all you need, fine.

Speed is likely to be a fraction of the advertised numbers, but probably always faster than your internet connection, so it's not that big a deal.

As your review warns about, the first one is limited to 100Mbps by its port, whereas the second presumably isn't. Whether you would really max that out, I don't know.

I bloody hate it when I find myself falling into a deep well of obscure spec comparisons, with fresh tabs with alternatives opening up at a rate of knots.

Yeah. What speed's your internet connection, and what's the most you might use from any device connected via these?

I'm on BT's Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited.
That's 67Mbps, right? So, home file transfers aside, the 100Mbps limit isn't currently a problem as such. 500Mbps adapters are probably less than 100Mbps in the real world, but not much less than your internet connection, so it's again OK.

I'm on an 80Mbps connection, I use something a bit like the pair in your first link, in a fairly big house with old wiring, and I don't feel it's the limit, which as ever is the internet connection.

I've got brand new wiring so maybe this will do the job?

I've got the (very) old version of those TP-link adapters in your last post, think they are limited to 500Mbps though, they are pretty old but still do the job perfectly well. Though to be honest I don't really see all that much difference between it and the ones before, not sure where the extra value is on a product about twice the price.

ETA: I misread it, the expensive ones have wifi. Yeah, go for them

Get the highest spec ones you can afford. If you think you'll miss the plug sockets, get the ones with power pass through, which are worth the extra dosh in my humble opinion if wall plugs are at a premium.

Would highly recommend the TP-LINK brand over netgear any day as well.
